Looking to snag one of these guys on the way home today. First riding mower to buy. I've done lots of reading and youtube review watching, and outside of buying commercial grade stuff, this one seems to be getting pretty decent reviews compared to the field. Right at the top of the range I want to spend, as well. I may could bump up 100-500 bucks if there were something that was a clearly better product.

Any of you have this model? Maybe able to sort of comment on Husq mowers in general?

The negatives I saw were the reverse pedal unable to extend fully (dremmel/saw a piece off for fix). I saw it does pretty poorly on wet grass. Those were the main problems I read.

It's a residential mower for a 1 acre or so yard. Lot of grass I'm gonna need to cut. *edit* That I don't want to do with a standard push/propelled mower.

much better choices out there better than a rebadged MTD.

And the YTH is the discontinued model. The YTA is the new model.

Had one very similar to that one. I think it was maybe a 42". Only reason I got rid of it was I moved to Texas and it was just too big for my yard. Only issue I had was it didn't like wet grass too much.

Good to know about the model, because it's definitely the YTH they have on the floor. I'll ask about the newer model / differences.

not the same model, but i've had a Husq GT2254 for 11 years now and its still going strong.

I broke the deck lift brackets, so its welded in place, but it still cuts good. Briggs motor has been excellent.

the Snapper has a fab deck and better warranty.

That Kohler on that mower is crap. Kohler does make some good motors but their residential motors are shite.

42" for $1799

Im not absolutely sure, but I believe this is the same model as I have. Mine is 08 model. I'm the second owner as of 2010. Maybe just my luck but I will never purchase a new or used husqvarna mower again. I have replaced both front wheel bearing hubs and rebuilt the deck (bearings, pulleys, spindle assemblies, and blades) three times.... Enough to know that Jacks Small Engines.com has the best prices for parts than anywhere else. The deck does not vent correctly and constantly builds up grass underneath which has caused the above mentioned repairs along with a really crappy cut. Just my 2 cents, but I wil never purchase another one.

Funny I believe that snapper made at the MTD's Martin, TN plant.
Meauxjeaux please learn which mfg make which mowers.
Snapper was bought by Briggs when they went under and some riders are made at the MTD plant. I have actually seen then and small MF riders made when I went on a dealer tour.

XT 1 cub cadet on a better platform, bigger transmission, and more comfortable to use.
I sold them both and cub a better buy.

Guy looking for the Husqvarna it's a decent unit haven't had many come back that I sold.
Some of the newer hop riders have gone to a composite cvt transmission made by General transmissions. I will have to wait and see on the reliability.

Just curious, how does the John Deere 105 for $1499 compare to the mowers mentioned?

I have a Craftsman Pro series 26 hp 54" that is solid. I mow about 2 acres but the landscape is such that a ZTR wouldn't decrease mowing time.

Lol at the downvote on my OP.

Anyway. I ended up buying the YTA24v48 today. Naturally, I can't give a real review b/c I've basically only been able to turn it on and roll around a bit. No grass to cut really, yet.

The new B&S motor it's got is supposed to be a newer / much improved format. It runs and sounds very smooth, and very similar to the sound I'd hoped for. The damn thing FLIES, man. I showed my wife, brother and sister in law how fast... i started from a crawl, and as i turned the corner floored it. Each one saw it without any impressions or expectations and when i floor it they all belly laughed from surprise.

I felt like I was on a mario-lawn-kart.

I fell into a Cub Cadet ZTR 50" last year in really good condition for $300. It takes about 15 minutes to cut my 1/3 acre lot and another 20 min of just riding around. If only they made an edging/weed eating/blowing attachment. I'd cut the grass everyday.

Johnnyrocket insulted me saying Snapper built by MTD.

I don't see Snapper in those lists.
