What does any of that have to do with anything? how does a nicer boat make fishing easier? how does a nice camp make fishing easier?

A lot of more money has been dumped into a lot more placed because of these guys. Also, technology and biologists have played a big part. It is easier, except in WMAs

If it's not easier, try it the other way.

Put on a pair of cotton longjohns and some crappy walmart coveralls, go sit on a WMA in a climbing stand for 5 months.

people still get cold, still get wet, and still get tired. "those" conditions still make it tough for most

It was a lot easier to kill deer back then cause they had so many of em. I would shoot 3-4 a weekend when I was a kid if I felt so inclined. Was I cold yes, but if they had the clothes then they have now you damn skippy I would have been wearing it.

I've been fishing my entire life bub, a camp built in 2012 and a boat bought in 2011 weren't always there for me. I fish out of a kayak most of the time for God's sake

FWIW, I am 29 and have always walked through the marsh(rubber waders) to duck hunt when the pirogue couldn't go any further. I have only ridden in a boat with a long tail, no surface drives

This isn't age based, it is purely monetary

I remember when we carved all of our decoys

paddled everywhere we went

built fires by rubbing sticks together

slept in wooden huts

weapon of choice was a slingshot

Hunting may be more comfortable now, but not easier. My dad always tells me stories about the good ole days of duck hunting anywhere and verywhere whenever they wanted to. They would always fill their bags not even 30 minutes from lsu.

But, I forgot how young most of the guys on this board are and how probably most of them have no idea what I'm talking about.

Bro, just because some of the guys are 10 years younger than you, doesn't mean they haven't experienced being cold, wet, tired etc while hunting. And 90% of this board has it so easy? Pshh. you are exaggerating, and sounding a bit silly now.

I'm 39. I grew up hunting with Wal-Mart special rubber boots and hand me down hunting clothes. I froze my arse off almost every hunt. If I was lucky, I got a makeshift ladder stand to hunt on. I usually had to sit on the ground or a bucket where the deer were crossing a road or trail. We didn't have enough money to use rifles, used family member's shotguns. My Dad usually didn't have a truck back then so I rode with my great Uncle in his VW bug which never and I mean never got stuck which amazed me.

Fast forward to now, I still consider myself more of a hunter / gatherer than doing this for sport. I like wild game and I'll do what I need to get it. So I will hunt over corn no problem, in a box stand to keep warm, no problem. Honestly, I don't really care how or why people hunt as long as they are doing it legally, and as a matter of fact don't care if they are breaking the law as long as it doesn't directly affect me.

We hunt in Claiborne Parish and our camp is made from garage doors. No running water, no electricity. If we could have it, hell yeah I'd take it. But I sure as hell ain't jealous of million dollar camps property etc. More power to them.

The moral of that long arse story....

To each their own. I'm in the woods and on the water because it's a place where I can spend time with my family and connect with God in a way I can't sitting in front the TV or behind a computer. If I happen to catch or kill that day, it's a bonus.

It took so long to carve those damn decoys!!!!

But, our camp was run off a bank of car batteries for the longest with a wood burning stove for heat. As a matter of fact my dad still uses that camp and he is more than capable of building whatever the hell he wants. All he did was upgrade to a generator.

I don't know shite about duck hunting. Never been in my life.

All I'm saying, is my early deer hunting years were nothing like what most people do today. I'm not trying to sound like a badass. I LOVE the new warm clothes, especially. I just thought it would be fun to joke about the stuff we used to do in the old days. But, it appears I've offended some people by suggesting technology has made things easier. That wasn't my intent.

Also, no boots were waterproof then. You avoided water like the plague because if your feet got wet you were done. Also, when I started duck hunting around the age of 17, there was no such thing as neoprene. You had this rubber crap, cold as hell waders that would crack if they got too cold. Personally I wouldn't go back to any of that if I had to.
