How would you handle receiving this letter from your neighbor?

OK, there seems to be some confusion on this. My friend had 2 dogs. One of them was a husky mix (I'm not sure what it was mixed with) and the other was a pitbull. The husky mix is the one that wandered off and was then shot and killed. Judging by the letter, the neighbor tried to also kill the pitbull but failed because the gun jammed. Sorry for the confusion.

EDIT: Just got a text from my friend. She has filed a report with the sheriff's office, however the sheriff's office hasn't been able to get in touch with the neighbor. Will update this as soon as I hear more. Thanks for all the support! To answer some of the common questions, we do live in Texas and she does live in the 'country' so I am not sure how that will play out with the sheriff's office, but it looks like something is going to be done if they are at least trying to contact the neighbor.

Depends on if my dog needed or deserved lead poisoning.
If not then hell to pay.

My first instinct would be to break his kneecaps, but that would be playing his game.

Instead, I'd get my lawyer involved to harass the everloving shite out the trashy MFer in whatever way possible. The object being to put him on tilt and wait for him to do something stupid that he could be sued or prosecuted for in a major way.

I would be extremely pissed unless he had previous issues with the dogs and had spoken to me.

Wait until neighbor goes out of town. Sneak in, plug bathtub drain, turn on water, leave?

Or send a similar letter with panties, reference the neighbor's mom, wife or daughter.

Yeah, me and this dude would be throwing down.

Sending me a letter bragging about shooting my dog is an offense that will get your house burned down.

Your lawyer couldn't do much, and he definitely couldn't prosecute him.

This.

I love how everyone assumes it is a sweet little dog with no priors. I'm picturing a shithead owner who has been told many times previous to keep his dog on a leash.

I might would need my lawyer, but not for the reason above.

Hope the put the son-of-a-bitch under the jail. No dog deserves to be shot just because they got off a leash/out of a yard.

I wouldn't say "no dog" if he would've popped that pit I doubt anybody would care.

You must be pretty naive to think that this guy shot a dog because it got off the leash once. I think it's safe to assume there was a history here.

That's one shitty human being. We would already have had some quality time together had this been my neighbor.
