How many boxes of shells do you consider "worn in" for a semi-Auto shotgun?

I have one of the Panzer AR12 shotguns and I have probably 150-200 rounds through it. I noticed feed issues for the first 75-100 but after that it’s been working flawlessly.
I would imagine your more expensive guns would have little to no break in but don’t know for sure.

I would not know since I hunt with original Browning Auto 5 shotguns. They do not require a break-in period to work. They also do not usually wear out after 100 years. Just replace a part here and there.

New A5s not so much. Dropped mine off today. Jury still out, might be me putting too much oil on receiver spring in stock. Still did okay with high velocity rounds, other ones steady jams. Just can’t bring myself to break out my dads old humpback to hunt in saltwater marsh.

350
Actually 250-500 for any semi auto should have it nice and broke in..

My VR80 really felt ready to rock somewhere between 100 and 150 rounds.

I’ve got a fairly new Benelli that has had probably 500 rounds ran through it and it has handled light dove loads from day one. I think it’s as much to do with the individual gun as anything because I have a friend with the same gun and his has never handled light loads well. Benelli super Vinci’s. Have seen the same thing in SBEs.....

Not a semi auto but I wore out a Citori action. Sent it to Utah because the bottom barrel was misfiring. They told me they’d never seen a citori worn out . Gun was 25 years old and they repaired it for shipping costs! I think it had somewhere in the neighborhood of 10000 round through it when it started.....

Make sure you use high brass shells during the break in. Makes a big difference.

My beretta said 50 rounds of high brass shells IIRC. It jammed the first two shells and has been perfect since then
Fun fact: a dove place in Argentina only buys beretta shotguns to loan out because they have held up to round count significantly better than anything else.
