I ran accross a box of Hornady Custom Lite Ammunition 308 125 Grain ammo today. How will this do for white tail hunting?

It'll put meat in the freezer if you do your part.

125-150 yards max, I would guess.

How much did it cost, if you don't mind my asking?

theyve got it at Shooters in Lafayette. have a couple others as well. Shooters actually has a good stock on rifles right now. ammo is jacked tho, for the most part.

Those work just fine. The wife shoots them and they do an excellent job on deer and hogs out to 250, assuming you put the bullet where it's supposed to go.

It has plenty of energy to go further if needed.

Just please sight your rifle in with the new ammo before hunting.

Hard pass. It’ll kill a deer though.

Google it.

Assuming it's the same SST bullet as in the lite 7mm-08s, they kill deer and do a lot of damage. I was not happy with penetration. Lots of deer with no exit. But that was my kids shooting when they were young and often burying it in an opposite shoulder.

Based on current availability of ammo, I'd buy anything I could get my hands on though.

It has about the same energy at 200 yards that a full power 150gr has at 300 yards.

So yeah that's plenty to kill a deer.

I have had the same experience with the 7mm-08 Custom Lite ammo. Deer don't go far but we have not gotten any pass through shots with it. I think the bullet is just designed that way. It definitely does alot of interior damage though.

If worse case is 125 yards, I’m glad I got it if nothing else than a back up box.

I believe it was $19 for a box of 20 rounds.

Let a young man kill his first with that exact round a couple years ago. DRT. It is an SST round.
