Help with putting choke tubes in my shotgun

I have a 2019 20 G Fabarm Elos D2 over and under. I cannot get my choke tubes to screw into the barrels. I tried to lightly lubricate the choke tube and the barrel but that did not work. Any suggestions? Thanks

Are they tubes that came with the gun or aftermarket?

Do they look like the ones that were in the gun?

Perhaps they are just dirty. Try cleaning both the exterior of the tubes and the part of the barrel they screw into with gun cleaner. Scrub with a toothbrush or bronze cleaning brush. Put gun oil/lubricant on both and try again. The tolerances on choke tubes are pretty tight. A small amount of rust or debris could be enough to cause problems.

I use CLP to clean my barrels after using, and put a small amount of anti-seize on the choke tubes before installing. Maybe your tubes weren’t tightened fully and you have some carbon buildup that was exacerbated when the tubes were removed.

Choke tubes have exceedingly fine threads. If you are sure you haven’t screwed the threads up on the choke tubes, I would get a fine brass brush (don’t use steel) or toothbrush and be sure you don’t have some gummed up lubricant in them.
Aside from that, steel expands when heated, so be sure you don’t have a situation where the tubes are much warmer than the gun…for instance, you wouldn’t want to keep the choke tubes on the dash of a hot truck in the sun and bring your gun from an air conditioned house.

Stupid question, but are there already choke tubes installed? Are you trying to screw in tubes inside tubes? Sorry if I insulted your intelligence.
I bought a CZ O/U and the tubes are inserted and the extras are in a plastic container. Just a thought

Has the gun been shot without choke tubes? My son's friend was with us at the club and asked me to help him install his choke tubes, but I couldn't get them started. I figured he and my kid had mixed up their chokes so I asked for the one he had just taken out. He said no, he was shooting with no choke bc he liked the pattern with no choke when shooting skeet. That gun still doesn't have a choke tube in it...The threads were wrecked.

Yep, my Franchi has an internal choke tube that was already installed that's much shorter than the short/mid/long range chokes that came with it.
