Yes there are. Look at PewScience. Certain silencers impart less damage to your ear on supersonic .308 than other silencers do on subsonic .300 Blk. Quit spreading misinformation. I do own hearing protection. I use it on guns that can’t be suppressed or when I shoot high volume or when I shoot my ARs suppressed. It is incorrect to say that supersonic ammo can’t be made hearing safe though.

Why on earth would you try to suppress a full blown supersonic hunting round instead of just wearing hearing protection?

Just go ahead and tell that you've never shot with silencer/ suppressor before?

Just admit you've played way too much metal gear.

Because it makes a loud gun quieter and imparts less hearing damage. Idk why this is so hard to understand

.308 and like Rize said shortest barrel possible.
I would also look at Bergara and Christianson Arms. Browning is nice but can get a lil more bang for ya buck. Plus the browning triggers are not that great if I ask me.

As far as choice of caliber, of the ones you're considering, I'd go 308 Win every day of the week and twice on Sunday. It's not yet clear yet whether the 6.5 PRC is going to around long term. The 6.8 Western is a fine round, but the main thing it does is allow you to shoot a heavier than usual 270 caliber bullet at 270 Win velocities. As far s shooting supersonic ammo in a gun w/ a suppressor, I'll point out that on prairie dog hunts the last couple years, I've been running my long barreled handguns w/ a suppressor. Admittedly, I'm usually shooting <100 rounds a day, but the suppressor sure makes the hunt more enjoyable for myself and the other hunters around me. A 22 Nosler has a lot of muzzle when shot in a 15" barrel that's unsuppressed.

Apparently people didn’t read the op’s requirements or have never hunted with a 24 to 26 inch barrel with a can on it in a box blind

Look into the 7MM PRC it’s a great all around new cartridge!

Uh, I have a 6.5 PRC that I hunt with suppressed. It has a muzzle break, with the adapter that I put my suppressor over and it just makes that gun a dang beast. Only killed 5 deer with it, no tracking. I fought the suppressor thing for a while, now , want every gun I have to have one. It just makes a huge difference, especially on in the range shooting long distance, and in the woods on those quick shots. It really cuts down that flinch of sound and recoil; it really reduces both, and let’s you concentrate more on an accurate shot, especially when deer are zooming across a narrow lane and the shot is quick. When hunting, you barely even notice the recoil or the sound, cause of the adrenaline effect, just have to experience that, but there is no ringing, no after effects; which is why I won’t be without one on my guns…

Yep. .308 shorter barrel, suppressed = Profit. I cut my Bergara Wilderness Ridge to 17". Its compact enough to hunt in the woods, lock on, climber, box. Perfect weapon for the way I hunt.

I would just invest in some quality hearing protection.
I prefer to hear things naturally when I’m deer hunting. I use axil buds for duck hunting but I’m not using that in the deer stand. I’ve got permanent ringing in my right ear that gets worse with loud shots… so I use a suppressed 308 for deer with no more ringing. You don’t always have time to throw earplugs in before a shot.

For hunting??? What have you used that you’d suggest? I’ve honestly considered this option, but it comes at a price point similar to a suppressor. I don’t love the size of the can, even on a rifle with a shortened bbl.

If done right with the right stuff you can make a rifle and can be less than 24 inches.
Hyperion K is 6 inches and you can go as low as 16 inches on a rifle barrel without having a SBR. Puts you at 22-24 inches which is right in line with most bolt action rifle barrel lengths.

Yeah. A bbl beyond 22” is not a fun rifle for me to carry around. I do, I have, but the handling characteristics with a can are a huge downside to me. I just deal with it because the ‘pros’ outweigh those ‘cons,’ but I notice it constantly. I know my opinions aren’t that common.

It seems like you have the rifle you want and probably the silencer picked out?
The .308 is the one for economics and availability the other cartridges are superior but, expensive (more) and harder to find unless you buy a bulk load and have them ready to go.
I bought a 28 Nosler and have enough pricey Ammo to make three or four more Elk hunts.
I would like to have a short AR pistol braced .308 myself short barreled variation. I have a silencer from which I can move between weapons in that range.
They work by the way…
