And as for the beacon, I've thought about it, but I'll tell the wife that if she doesn't hear from me by a certain time, to call the ranger station and tell them where we hiked.

And even though we will be very remote, the area in which we are hiking, it is very hard to get lost. We pretty much just hunt near the creek in the valley. I still might look into it.
