I will say, unless you are buying two sets (one insulated and one not). If you are only getting one pair, insulation can be great when you need it.
But I am definitely in need of some lighter ones for teal season (an apparently big duck season as it was like 85 here a bunch of days).

I heard quality control in banded has gone to shite. I have friends with older pairs that the swear by. Some others have newer pairs that leaked the first year. I bought a pair of Gators I have been very pleased with. I have two seasons wear on them and have had no issues.

Another vote for magellans. I’m on season 4 with mine. Have a tiny leak in the crotch but hunt in the marsh so it’s rarely a problem. Bought another pair before the season expecting to have to replace them this year and they’re still going

Agree with this in Banded. Boys and I each had a pair. All leaked. Went to Sitka. Three seasons so far and all are good. I had a tear in one pair that caught a sharp edge on blind. No fault of the waders. They fixed them perfectly.

Had mine for two years and had zero leaks so far (knock on wood) and I lean against trees and stumps so I know they go through hell

quote:I love everything about my Banded waders(got them on close out) except the zip out liner. It's not something I would ever use, and the zipper at the calf makes it really difficult to get these on. I'm thinking about cutting them out.
good or bad

I just used my red zone elite 2.0 for the first time. My first set of banded waders lasted 4-5 years and I was happy with them. Bought the newer set on sale for when my old ones finally started leaking (I had better luck with banded than all others on my group. Theirs leaked in the first or second year).
Will give the other brands suggested in this thread a try on my next purchase. Banded are definitely comfortable, but quality sucks on the newer ones.

The Banded uninsulated waders are perfect for what you are looking for. Can get them for $300-500 depending on which ones you get. However, make sure you have another pair of cheaper insulated waders if you go into cold timber/standing in deeper water hunt. From my experience, even layering up underneath doesn't do the trick, and there is about a 40% chance you'll have a leak before too long.
As far as the insulated waders, I love my frogg toggs. 3 years of hard/no blind hunting and haven't had a leak or problem with cold yet.

I have the Sitka waders as well. I have to say besides my duck gun this is the most important piece that I own for waterfowl hunting. The waders are designed to be sent it in yearly and have serviced for about $150.00. They repair pin holes any rips or tears. They pressure test them and replace the boots if needed as well as the zippers. They have a wide variety if sizes from regular, tall and stocky. I know they are at the top end of waders but worth every penny to me as the fit is amazing!
Note; my dad who is super tight with is $$$ and still drives the same truck for the last 20yrs bought a pair and loves them. I met one of the Chen owners at our Delta Event really examined the waders and the product looks solid but not Sitka solid!
I am my own duck dog as well!!!

I got a set of Frog Togg waist highs for teal and warm weather big duck. The only reason I bought them was because they are waist highs and that makes them easier to drop when its that time. They also come with insulation that you can zip in or out but I never use it. For cold weather, I have a pair of 1200 gram neoprene Magellans from Academy.

Ive had nothing but trouble with Banded's. I bought the Redzone 2.0's last year (they turn a year old next week) and they began leaking around boots and groin on first hunt. Wasnt awful so I just kept wearing them.
Then about december of this year the boots began to leak around the top.
3 other friends have them as well and all are having similar issues. Contacted customer support 3 weeks ago and still havent heard back..
i would recommend going cheap on replaceable waders each year or get the expensive ones if you want to look cool

Bought mine because it was all they had in stock two days before Christmas and I talked my parents into getting them for me for Christmas like 8 years ago. I love them. I will probably buy another pair of FT's in a lighter insulation/no insulation for teal and hot days.

Half the guys I hunt with have the $1000 waders.
The other half have the amazon specials for $60.

Mine were like $250-$300, idr exactly. But I would never pay $1k for waders.

I have owned several pair of $300+ waders, Drake, Banded, one other name that escapes me. None lasted more than a season. Decided to go cheap(er) and got a pair of Cabela's Northern Flight and they are about to wrap up their 5th season in fairly tough conditions. Only gripe is that the elastic shoulder strap is shot and I can't seem to find a replacement that works. Regardless, it'll be my go-to for a while.
I wouldn't hate a pair of those lightweight canvas numbers for early season as I sweat so much in neoprene that I may as well have a leak, but I'm pretty sure its gonna be real cold for every duck season going forward, so why bother.
