Right after hurricane gustave, I drove back into BR from Lafayette at midnight like an idiot. All the streetlights were out so the roads were just pitch black except for my headlights. Driving up highland past the circle k towards the northgate, I see a shirtless black male sprinting straight at my parked truck (I was stopping at every intersection since the lights were out). I grabbed my .45 and put the laser in his eyes. Dude made like a tree and got the frick outta there.

I was leaving my office one night in Shreveport, and kidnapped, and carjacked at gunpoint. I managed to escape while the guy was trying to tie my hands behind my back. I still have bad day/night dreams about it, and I'm kind of getting tensed up just typing this as I remember that night.

Ex wife's cousin was jacked at gunpoint in Bossier, driven to S'port. They told him to get out of the car, put the gun behind his head and it misfired. He packed from that point.

my wife and I lived in Clinton MS for about a year and a half and we lived right off of HWY 80 which leads right into the heart of Jackson. My wife was home with our 10 month old son and it was about 9 in the morning and she had just come in from taking out the trash and she heard somehthing at the door and beforeshe knew it some one was trying to barge in, we had really bad foundation problems and the doors would stick really bad when closed, thank God for that. well she rushed to the door and threw her shoulder into it and locked the dead bolt, and the POS was still trying to barge in. we kept a loaded 20 gauge with some double oo in the living room, she went over and grabbed the gun and yelled at the a-hole," you can come in but you aint gonna enjoy it" he turned tale and she immediately got on the phone and looked out the window and got a car description and a license plate and they had that bastard caught in 5 minutes. He had a snub nosed 38 in his car and some cocaine and he was on parol for felony cocaine possesion.

A co-worker and I were in Monroe for meetings staying at the Holiday Inn Express in West Monroe.
I always carried my .38 snub-nose because at the time I traveled for work constantly.

We went out for a few drinks(don't remember the name of the place) and my co-worker got trashed on tequila. On the way back to the hotel I had to pull over several times for her to get sick, and I noticed I was being followed.

The car followed us all the way into the motel parking lot and pulled behind my car. I put the .38 in my purse, kept my hand on it and stepped out of the car. I told myself the entire time that if the SOB stepped one foot out of his vehicle I was going to put all 5 Starfires right through his gut.

He rolled his window down and before he could say a word, my drunk co-worked screamed at the top of her lungs..."Shoot that m****r-f****r!" Yes, very classy, I know...tequila will do that for you. But this probably saved that pervs life for him.

His eyes got big when he noted the protrusion of my purse pointed in his direction and he immediately rolled up his window and backed all the way out of the parking lot. Probably didn't want me to get his tag #.

I didn't sleep a wink all night. I just sat on the hotel bed and shook.

I don't get the Liberal conservative part.

I have guns, I love guns, and I'm damn near a socialist..

Anyway, yeah sometimes you have to use the deterrent. Good thing you didn't have to use it.

Damn I want to go back to that place in BR you can rent automatics at so bad..

The only liberals who have an affinity for guns are usually black. That's why. Most white libs would rather touch a strand of George Bush's hair than touch a firearm.

There are always exceptions to every rule, though.

About 2-3 months ago I had just finished a running at the park. As I was starting the truck, some random guy walked up, I noticed him coming up so I grabbed my .357 and put it near my right leg. I rolled down the window a tiny bit and asked him to leave. He asked for a ride to New Orleans. I told him to find another ride and rolled a bit so he would see the gun. The guy turned around and left.

The guy probably just wanted a ride, but I don't chance anything. I get nervous when people come up to my truck. I get nervous when there are a bunch of "classy" people on a street corner and I have to stop at the light.

most liberals are pro gun control. I agree with the guy above that there are exceptions to each rule, but my wife when I met her was one step above a hippie, and slowly over time she has learned that she wants to keep her money, her freedoms and that government is out of control. ( semi Political board rant over.)

was robbed while in military at Ft. Sam Houston in 1971. Two guys with shiny pistols. I was unarmed. It all happened at very close range. Happened too quick to get scared. MPs later treated me like shite - said it was my fault because I was alone on post six buildings away from my barracks. They got $350.00. I was on my way to bus stop to go to airport and buy a plane ticket home. Sucked.

Ten years ago 2001) we lived in Alabama in a 150+ year old home in Marion. We were locked in (I thought) one night and just falling asleep when a loud crash brought me straight up out of bed. Nano seconds later I have my 9mm in hand heading out the bedroom door with the wife right behind me. I'm telling her to not get in front of me whatever she does because when I see a body I am going to shoot them. I recall my biggest fear was that I would shoot the wife, because she is not always the best to do what I say. Was ready to shoot intruder and certain I would do it at first sight. I made it downstairs and verified the front door was locked, quickly made it to other doors and found we were indeed locked in. Minutes later most lights in the house were on, and I had made it through all of the rooms. The house had no closets, few places to hide other than under beds. Continued looking and found a huge painting had fallen off the fireplace mantel in the upstairs parlor. At that point we went back to bed and actually went to sleep about two hours later.

Yes, I had to once, and would do it again. (My husband is a cop and I grew up hunting in fishing all my life.) I was home alone with my 1 1/2 year old (at the time), while he was working nights in another area. I was sittin on the couch and could see a flashlight coming in through my dining room window. So Im thinkin, if I call the cops, by the time they get here they would have already raped me and slit my throat, so I decide to run to the utility room and get the gun. I creep quietly back to the livingroom, turn the outside light on, and jump out onto front porch, in nothing but a t and panties, with the gun drawn, waiting to take someone down. I felt like a total a-hole when I realized my neighbor and her kid were outside playing with flashlights But I wasnt about to let an intruder kill me or my kid. They looked at me crazy and I explained my situation and of course she understood.

This is the best thing I've read today.

I almost shot a paramedic trying to break into my house because he had the wrong address.

Sheriffs Dept beat on my door one morning at 4-5 AM during a thunderstorm. Scared the shite out of me. I came very close to getting my shotgun out the closet. They were at my house because a 911 call and hang up went through from my house phone due to lightning. They would have seen me through the front door and it would have probably went downhill from there.
