I'm thinking about getting one of the new Lews reels. I'm hearing awesome things about them.

Lews
What's the deal with these? People are raving about them in almost every fishing report I've read the past few months

I have no clue. I've read the same and it's causing me to rethink my upcoming reel purchase. It's either the Lews that's about $200 or the new Abu inshore that goes for about $220

I have an abu inshore on a falcon coastal rod, and I much prefer my old curados FWIW

The new curados are crap IMO. I'd rather a Revo SX. I'm probably going to give the Lews a shot.

I forgot Abu changed up the inshore this year. The new ones look pretty sick. Whatever you decide on, post a report. I getting an itch

Since I'm new to the fishing game, I could use a little help on patterning these fish. I'm fishing a two and a half acre pond and while I'm not catching many fish, I catch a beauty like this about every one and a half times around the pond. Im using a 3/8oz spinner bait and each one has been hugging the bank. Will it typically be this way through the spawn? Late last summer I was able to catch them in the cover with soft plastics. It appears it'll be some time before the cover returns.

In my pond I have much more luck fishing senkos this time of year than spinner baits. Might not be the case for yours though. Just throw the tackle box at them and change up the presentation until you get a pattern.

If I can't find a S&W Shield in the next month or so I might break down and buy a new setup with the inshore or lews instead

The new curado's are just fine and so are the chronarchs. I'm done with the Abu Garcia inshores. I bought the inshore and the curado the same week and I just took back the inshore due to the anti reverse not working I'm still a fan of the ambassador C3 reels for my cat fishing setups but I won't venture away from Shimano for my bass reels anymore.
