Putting pool in wife wants fiberglass will be around $50,000 gunite cost a little less but can custom more. Really just worried about dependability of pool.

Think you know the answer here

Feel for ya brother. Could buy a bunch of beach trips to Mexico and some country club pool memberships for that kind of money and still not have the hassle of cleaning the pool.

I'm in the same boat. Wife wants a pool and I keep putting it off. Eventually she'll win. Lol

If i had to get one Id get gunite. I hate fiberglass anything. At least with gunite id be able to do everything except shoot it myself

Both have their ups and their downs. You need to research more before pulling the trigger.

A friend with a pool is the correct answer.

Build her a nice above ground pool and deck that way when she finds out you use it way less than she thinks, you can tear it down and not have to keep up with the maintenance

If the wife would let me fill our pool in today I would. Gunite with something other than white plaster.

Why all the pool hate, looks like no one likes a pool around here.

My wife has wanted one since we got married. It's not happening. 25 years and it still hasn't happened.

Unless you like cleaning a pool and being ocd about ph they are a big waste of time and money

Gunnite with a PebbleTech finish do not finish with white plaster/marcite.

You can customize it to your space and add a spa/hot tub to it.

It’s really not that much trouble maintaining a pool.

IMO..Go with the fiberglass. I have been researching for over a year. Pool going in next month.. Not a large pool, but I live on the lake with a slope. Price for 20x12 fiberglass, w/ 4' concrete around pool. 18" x 20' retaining wall, all equipment and lights, installed $34K,,,Got a gunite quote for same size,,$42K. Ongoing maintenance for a gunite is very high, Fiberglass cheaper than gunite or liner. I talked in length with a pool service guy..only cleans and checks chemicals..does not sell pools. He said go with fiberglass and chlorine, not salt. All the expensive salt system does is convert the salt to chlorine and the modules are expensive and changed often. Sorry for the long post. Good luck..Happy wife..happy life. Btw fiberglass pools don't float up if installed right,

I had a pool when I lived in South Florida. It is insane what you pay for a pool in Louisiana.

I guess it's the competition in florida where almost everyone has a pool.

OB is stupid cheap and lazy. Our gunite saltwater pool is a focal point of our activity and requires minimal upkeep. Me and kids love it and use it constantly when warm enough.

Not cheap and dam sure not lazy. Where I come from our pools are found in creeks and rivers.
