Looking to take my son on his first goose hunt. I’ve been doing it for years and I know he’ll enjoy in. I’ve always went all over Texas but Louisiana is not out the option. I am looking for nice lodging and meals included.

Have you done Texas panhandle? If I was goose only hunting that’s probably where I would go.

I've been to Louisiana outfitters twice. Really good experience both times. Lodging and food are great too.

Where are you located?

Arkansas or Louisiana for specks and snows. TX Panhandle as suggested above for Canadas and Sandhill Crane.

Duck hunting might be tough any where this season. There was a drought in the Dakota pot hole region this year which normally results in average to below average duck hunting. The Geese are different story and they have kept places like Gueydan, Sweetlake and Thornwell relevant in the hunting scene the last few years.

Not sure about your price point but Hennings Guide Service in Thorwell is a great place maybe a the higher end side. Sportsman Charters in Gueydan might not be as fancy but still an amazing place. Both will be hammering the geese this year.

Check out Fowlplains Outfitters. Just north of Lubbock. Good crane and cackler action.

Don't come to Louisiana. Go to Oklahoma or North Texas where there are plenty of t-canadian geese.

But like another poster said, you will likely need to find a couple more buddies to join in

Colby Daniels w/ Top Gun guides in Mer Rouge does pretty good, especially on the geese. (318) 669-3793
