My guess (and that's all it is) is he went thru the bridge pass on plane to make a point to the boats fishing without lights on, his clients jumped his arse about endangering everyone's life and he was embarrassed enough to go back looking for a confrontation days later.

That's quite the leap but hey, you never know. Glad justice was served.

At 22, I was finishing up my first enlistment as a combat engineer and off my first combat deployment.

Would’ve enjoyed being out on the water enjoying life at that point of my life instead of jukin’ and jivin’ in some God forsaken land and you can guarandamtee count on I would have:

just ignored Captain Insano, pulled anchor and moved on AND
if Captain Insano proceeded to chase me down, he would’ve been on a trip to find Davey’s Locker.

So yeah, I guess I am a tough guy to n’er do wells such as yourself and that bro dude.

22 today is different than 22 was a generation ago. My oldest is 15 and he doesn't believe the stories of what I was able to do at 15. And my parents were strict compared to most.

If you were finishing up your first enlistment you were given a whole lot more responsibility than 99.9% of the average 22 year old these days.

Another thought I had is he may have passed on plane (like he should) instead of half throttle and the rookies fishing the bridge didn't understand that concept and flipped out for him not "slowing down"

So your first option would be to tuck tail and run. Hmmmmmm. At least the younger dude held his ground until his vessel was boarded by the nutjob.

You’re being disingenuous.

At his age, I would’ve brought the attack as soon as he approached…older me now teaches my two sons that isn’t how to handle it from the get go - make distance and don’t verbally spar and escalate.

Once the other party pursues / crosses threshold of home/conveyance with indicators of intent to cause SBI/death, it’s on like donkey kong.

I asked my 25 year old youngest how he would’ve handled and he told me, “Like you taught us Dad, drive away and if I couldn’t, beat his arse.” From the mouths of “babes”.

Too bad that young mariner didn't shoot the aggressor in the chest with a flare gun.

My Dad always had one of these in our boat:

I am? You puffed up like the aggressor in this thread, called out the younger guy just going about his business fishing as being a poosy, and then suggested one option would be to flee (but did not mention at the time you had kids). Funny that you did not mention your offspring earlier in the thread.

Again, after calling the 22 y/o a poosy, who stood his ground, you would advise your offspring to flee. Gotcha, This 22 y/o stood his ground and fortunately filmed the incident which brought this dickwad charges, and also hopefully his crewmates on the boat at the time of the incident.
My take from this thread is that you are also a hothead, probably with a similar attitude as the frickstick that was charged, arrested, and will likely face additional charges from say the USCG. And the USCG is IMO going to go hard in on this one.

Okay dude…this back and forth with you is like punching a brick wall thinking it will come to its’ senses.

The 22 year old didn’t “stand his ground”…you obviously have no clue what that means in a day to day context nor legally. He jawjacked with Captain Insano until Captain Insano boarded his boat, intimidated his arse as he whined he was “just a kid bro”.

I don’t know what universe you live in thinking that is standing your ground. Adios.

Yeah he did. One of your options was to flee. He did not do that and stayed in place. From your initial post, you did not think this incident was a big deal, and called the younger fisherman a poosy , and have stated the primary option of you or your kids faced with this scenario would be to tuck tail and flee. The 22 year old kid did not flee from his spot.

Some of you mfers are as insane as the crazy bastard and if you are just trolling you should be locked up right next to him. Mfers like you are why the rest of us have to carry weapons everywhere we go now.

He didn't "jawjack", he tried to defuse the situation multiple times, clearly stating he had no interest in fighting. The captain saw a goofy young dude who wouldn't do anything and decided to bully him like a coward. I guess he should've stood his ground and got the shite kicked out of him?

Ngl, I'd have more respect for the "kid" if he did that rather than the beggingand crying he did after he found out some people aren't just all talk.

Again, not saying the captain wasnt very much in the wrong here, but this is probably the last time the kid talks tough without thinking he might actually have to back it up.

I might have to watch the video again, but I don’t think he was really “talking tough.” Unless you consider tough talk to be calling someone “bro” excessively. Come to think of it, that might have been what really set Horner off
