Long story short, a guy shot a deer illegally on NF land bordering my property and the deer ran onto my land before it died. I caught the guy on camera and reported it. Green jean came out to the property and attempted to write me a ticket for illegally placed no trespassing signs. He claimed they were not “reasonably placed”.

I told him you found them and the fricking deer can’t read.

Anyway, these douchebags with their high and tight hair cuts pretending they’re on their way to fight terrorists are out of control. I tried to do the right thing by providing them with information they could use to capture a poacher and they decided they were going to thank me by writing a bullshite ticket

Apparently in NC there is. If you’re going to press charges against someone for trespassing, you have to prove your signs are clearly visible and reasonably placed.

Not sure about down in LA.

WTF does this even mean? Are you in a state that requires them to be able to charge for trespassing?

shite like this is why folks are hesitant to report poaching. no good dead goes unpunished

I can see where not having them placed "reasonably" could prevent you from pressing charges for trespassing, but that is crazy that a landowner could be ticketed for that

I didn’t point them out to the guy. He found them on his own and then tried to tell me they weren’t “reasonably placed”

Met a guy who cleaned a deer that was killed on NF land. He was the local bring your deer to me and I'll clean it for you guy. He didn't know where the deer was killed, just doing this kid a favor. GW found out about it and gave him a ticket for abetting the perp and other shite. I told him he needs to call whoever is in charge of prosecution and plea your case. He doesn't get paid to clean the deer, he does it because he has the set up to do this. He paid a fine but most of the other bull shite was dropped.

In LA all land is considered posted. It's up the hunter/poacher/whoever to know where you are and to stay off other people's land.

Unless you are retrieving hunting dogs of course. Then it's ok to trespass.

So, is "reasonably placed" a subjective interpretation?

I'm thinking the guy that crossed your property line is a buddy of the GJ.

He did not. I suspect he will be snooping around for a while to try and find a reason to write me one, though.

Not a legit reason to try and fine you, more like an educational opportunity if he felt your signs could be displayed better. Dude was stepping over quarters to pick up dimes. You handed him 100% proof that some jackleg was hunting illegally.

Over trespassing? On private hunting land? I can assure you they have better or easier or more comfortable shite to do then deal with a trespasser.

Again, this was recently right? As in deer season isn't close to being in? Poaching out of season is one thing. They aren't going to be getting out of their truck and walking the woods in the middle of summer unless they have a good reason, and trespassing from NF land to a private land isn't a good enough reason.
