What's the OB's opinion? Are they made well?

I'm looking at potentially getting one

Guy I fished with this weekend used to have a center console which he traded out for a 26' Regulator (fine boat) and a Gravois bay boat. Said they were both, without a doubt, the wettest boats he has ever been in. And this guy is a pretty hard core fisherman. Take it FWIW.

Alex Gravios now makes them under the name American Aluminum Marine.

They still are awesome, but on the 24', expect to pay Yellowfin prices- close to $80,000. LINK

This. 90% of my fishing is done out of a gravois. It is a very rough riding boat. There is no flex or softening when you hit a wave, it just slams.

a few years back a buddy of mine owned one with his dad and it was well made, but man it sucked in the keeping you dry department
That being said, we got converged on by a few storms and it got rough... and i felt pretty safe in it. It was a 28ft i think, but the sides around the edge was pretty rough on the shins and knees.... aluminum isn't quite as forgiving as fiberglass

Ive heard nothing but good things about them. One of my buddies has/had one but he sells and trades things like the indians did so I'm not sure.

Gaudet currently has a 22' for sale in front their shop that I looked at last weekend. Nice boat and was thinking about buying it but it only has a 150 yamaha doesn't seem like enough motor for that boat. Motor and hull is '02 and they want $22k for it. seems high, would pay that if it had a newer 4 stroke 200!

The origional Gravois boat builder is building 98% govt. boats. If you know someone in the family they may be able to build one.

Alex Gravois who worked for the origional family for a few years is on his own and builds a hybrd bay boat. It can be used for near offshore is priced more like 90K. I have been on both boats and while they don't ride as good as a fiberglass boats are built like tanks and should last a life time.
