Heading down today for a weekend trip. I'm getting a few rods prepped right now...changing string and tying on what I think I'll use. Gonna set up one for topwater...that being said, what is your favorite topwater lure for specs?

Asking the board....not just you DSD.

In my experience they haven’t been super picky once I discover they will hit topwater. Main decision is wether to tie on a popper type or walk the dog style topwater.

Been fishing grand isle for the last 4 Days the bull reds were catching by Elmer’s. We caught really well the days it didn’t rain. We did ok on the trout.

Same, seems like once you find them the color/make/model don't really seem to matter much. Though I did have a few trips last summer where I was catching them on a pink Matrix Mullet about 3:1 compared to other topwaters being throw in the same places. Ever since them I always seem to start with the Matrix when targeting trout before moving to others, skitterwalks, topdogs, she dogs, etc.

I'm a skitterwalk guy, but I have probably caught 3 fish, only 1 keeper in 5 trips this year on topwater. Not in Grand Isle though, all in Cocodrie.

They USED to say no SXS or gas powered engines. They are legal now

Do you know if this is to include atv's? If so, I'm going to start leaving the boat at home and towing down the 4 wheeler.
