Heading to Grand Isle Friday. Any reports worth noting?
Maybe some Gulf side fishing while down there as well

Just got back monday from a 7 day stint. Crabs picked up big time in surf. Did have a lot of sponges, but they running. We scooped a ton of them up at night with nets and head lights. That was fun for the kids. The fishing was okay, nothing special. Hasn't been too great a year for the trout imo down there. Also, the golf carts on the beach is outta control. They say no side by sides or gas powered engines, but that is all i saw basically.

You can have those on the beach now. Just need the permit.

Do you think that it will not last? I had a cart, switched to a Mule because of ride, range and power. I'd honestly hate to go back.

Golf Carts have been a game changer for beach activities. I don’t see them going away although I don’t think SxS should be allowed.

I don't see it going anywhere. I know of a few people who have one with a camp rental and has kept their camp booked solid for the whole summer because of it. It really is nice to be able to bring it over and most people are respectable with them. Not to mention the money the town brings in.

The only reason it would go away is the idiots/children driving. The other day I saw a couple girls couldn't have been 10 or 11 driving one of those big arse side by sides up and down. Probably not the safest thing

I didn't know they made the gas ones legal. They must've changed the rules.

Yea some idiots almost took out my 7 yr old nephew on the beach with him walking back to the camp we rented on the beach side. It was a bunch of young teenagers not older that 14 driving. The golf cart next to them that stopped to let my nephew cross was really pissed at those teens for almost hitting my nephew. Its just a matter of time til some idiots hit someone and cause major injury. Sucks because it'll ruin it for the people who actually use the golf carts correctly.

You're supposed to have a valid drivers license to operate a cart on the island. There is an officer who patrols the beach, it would probably be a good to let him know when you see people acting up.
