Everyone we talked to had done poorly around the island. We struggled.

Clean water has been hard to find on front side of GI from the reports I hear.

Hit Hopedale Marina @ 6:30 am, tries long rocks, short rocks, the wreck, stone island and bay long. Found plenty of schoolies and rat reds. Ended with 8 keeper specks and 2 reds. Nobody seemed to have hammered them and there were a lot of boats on the water for a Wed. Was really nice to see the Parish has finally marked the spoon bank canal to get to the MRGO, guess it’s been a year since I’ve made that run and was a little worried about it.

All in all a great day on the water and my wife had a blast. I just wish we could have found more fish. Guy at the marina found some nice specks at the Central Rigs which I’ve never fished but seems like quite a ride...tight lines.

I sight fished in hopedale yesterday till a nasty storm ran me off for a bit and went into lake robin and Lake coquille to kill time and found some oil slicks. Put a cork on with a voodoo and it was on for a while. Probably caught 25 keepers with a few over 18" in about an 1.5 hours and we left them biting to go back to the reds. So you really don't have to go outside to find fish right now.

They did a fantastic job marking that canal.
