I have a 5 yr old male GR w/ incredible bloodline, temperment etc. Best dog I've ever known. Would love to stud him locally to have one of his pups.

Anyone with a female field golden interested or know someone that may be?

Did he come from Swamp Collie in GA? They have some nice looking dogs.

I have two female Topbrass dogs but one is old/retired and the other is just a pup. I haven't decided if I'd like to breed her yet.

Caprock Goldens

This is where we got ours. We live in Texas and so we found a puppy here. They are north of Tomball. With a reputable breeder you will likely have to fill out a questionnaire and the pups are costly. But you are paying for dogs that were bred from confirmation or agility stock. You can't worry too much about cancer. We lost two of our four to cancer at the 9 to 10 yo time. Friends of ours have a healthy 10 1/2 yo whose dad died at about six. Gotta love them while you have them.
Also, you will have yellow fluffy fur all over your house, clothes and in our case bed. Better not let that bother you. I wouldn't doubt if some of those dogs end up in rescue because of this.

This post reminded me, but another point on field bred goldens. They do not shed nearly as much as bench dogs or labs. Their coats are going to be more coarse/wiry and not quite as soft/plush as a bench dog's coat. My dogs generally shed heavily twice a year for about a week.

I've noticed in the OB there is seemingly one or two maybe serial downvoters. Guessing Taxman or some PETA type. Possibly in this thread someone who hates breeders? I never really know but I do notice in OB there are commonly one or two downvotes even on posts that are seemingly innocuous.

Saw your update. If you're looking for a field dog, check out/contact Topbrass Retrievers (LINK /). Jackie Mertens started and developed the Topbrass lines and she's regarded as one of the most accomplished trainers/breeders in the United States. If you look at a lot of the modern field golden breeders' pedigrees, there are Topbrass dogs all over them.

Allison Sinclair has primarily taken over the breeding but she is easy to deal with and very knowledgeable. They don't have a ton of breedings so there may be a waiting list currently, but they're worth reaching out to. They will want to know what your plans are for the dog so they can try to place you with a suitable litter/puppy. Their puppies are not cheap, but I'm on my second dog from them and I don't plan to ever get a dog from anyone else.
