The Nature Conservancy and the state purchased the Anderson Tully tract few years back to make a wma

That’s also where CWD was discovered

Maybe someone can “plant” cwd on Giles Island (if it’s not there already) so the state can get it cheaper.

Agreed. There truly is nothing like hunting along that river. It's just different there.

NWR staff and purchasing lands might be different things. The record gun sales might fund a new refuge.

I think there is something inside real hunters that see things in land another may not. On a good property outside the levee you see those things here and there (oak flats, water, good soil, pinch points, subtle ridges, sloughs, etc.). When you are behind the levee, it’s harder to not see those things than to find them. It’s everywhere.

Nah, they would buy it and limit access to 500 ac on the opposite side. See White Lake for result of ownership.

Timber isn’t worth a damn with river doing what it is doing. Add to it economy doing what it is doing.

Except for all of the ship traffic coming into Gulfport.

I just can’t see this property selling anywhere close to $20MM.

The flooding alone makes it a very risky purchase.

There will be a group of hunters pull together and purchase it - and they will try to relive the glory days of old.
