Hey guys, I am looking for advice on quality gas grills. I know charcoal and others can be better, but with 3 young kids, I am going for convenience only. I previously had a Weber Genesis that cost around $1k, and I would like something similar.

…Weber Genesis.

Is there a reason that you don’t want to get another one?

I had it for like 8 years, and it did not hold up particularly well. knobs breaking and electric starter failure. I am not opposed to getting another, but when I got the original I expected more durability.

Too much success and longevity from owning 2 Weber Genesis' in last 20yrs. I picked up a Genesis II about 4yrs ago when Lowe's was doing a 50% off clearance and it's done great. Still prefer the BGE when I have the time but probably use the Weber more due to convenience, especially during the week.

That works out to like $0.30 a day. Seems reasonable

Did you keep it under a cover or out of the weather? Either way, 8 years of regular use on a gas grill isn’t bad at all.

Knobs and electric starters are easy fixes.

One thing I like about Webers is the availability of replacement parts.

A buddy of mine gave me a Weber Genesis about 5 years ago. Idk how old it was at the time, but it’s been cooking it’s arse off ever since.

I’d stick with the Weber if I were in your shoes.

Weber for sure.. Any model. They are solid. Even made it through Ida tumbling around in the yard.

The Spirits are not as solid as the Genesis.

This is going to sound dumb, but I am asking because I heard otherwise...is it definitely better to keep. cover on it?

I gave up on grill starters long ago. They last a season or two, then die. For $3 you can get these and rock on all summer.

Is it better to keep a car in a garage or a boat covered?

Just don’t cover it up when it’s still hot or wet and it should be fine.

I buy a cover about every 2 years for my E-310 (Classic Accessories Veranda) since they wear out. I’m pretty sure it’s a medium. They’re $17 on Amazon or $27 from Home Depot.

Really.

Mine is in perfect condition. Had it two years, keep it cleaned and covered. Still looks brand new. Bout time to replace the flavorizer bars.

"is it definitely better to keep. cover on it?"

Open for debate. I leave mine uncovered to let the bottom dry out and keep rust to a minimum.

But it's out in the open with no overhead cover.

If you want to stay with charcoal and have th ease of gas I would recommend the masterbuilt gravity series. I rarely used my gas grill because I like charcoal, but never bought one beacuse of the same reason you posted, convience. Found the gravity series and it's been so easy. Great grill imo.
