Only starts if I spray starting fluid in the air intake. Starts right up and runs continuously til gas is out.
Any thoughts on what could be wrong?

Gotta be a fuel supply problem. Have you cleaned/replaced the carb?

Yeah it wouldn't run last yr. I replaced the carb and didnt touch the fuel lines and sparks plug.
Starts on one pull.

You replaced the carb last year? Did you leave the gas in it? The jet is probably partially clogged…

Check the little screen/filter at the beginning of the fuel line - in the tank.
Sometimes the plastic breaks down, or they get clogged from other debris.

Since you can get it started see if running some Berrymans or Seafoam through a tank of gas will help it out. Likely need to get in there and clean out the jet good though.

Thanks for the feedback.
I might take it apart when the electricity is back. Not taking it apart now and risk messing something up.

My buddy's generator had the same problem, we took apart the carb and cleaned the jets real good. Started up on the first pull after re-installing everything.

You have carburetor removal denial syndrome. Can be cured by 6 beers. Fully disassemble, clean, reinstall, watch your generator work!

Did you leave ethanol gas in it to sit without a stabilizer? My bet is a clogged jet.

I caught this disease years ago. As stated, there is a cure.
