Galvashield boat trailer

Pay for the aluminum trailer.

My nephews use their boats on avg every week sometimes in the marsh and sometimes freshwater.
My nephew original owner has a 1995 Louisiana Traveler on a galvanized trailer no rust.

Other nephew original owner has a 1992 Fisher Marshhawk with 1992 Ez loader galv trailer still good no rust. He paid $100 extra in 1992 for this option.

I got two friends that bought trackers with that galvashield trailer. The boats are maybe pushing 3 yrs old. They already have holes showing from rust in the trailer. On guy had to buy a new Aluminum trailer from Mike Gerald’s a few weeks ago, as his rusted so bad holes started forming in the channel.

I am confused, you say to get aluminum then list people with galvanized 15+ yr old trailers with no rust.

There are great galvanized trailer brands out there...and then there is the galvashield product that fall apart.

I have a 19 year old Magic Tilt galvanized trailer that the only visible rust is winch cable and the trailer springs, and I've never seen a trailer where the springs don't rust...It's because of the type of metal they have to be to actually be a spring.

there are a couple local places that build nice aluminum boat trailers that you can check into.

One is Champion trailers in Slidell right off I-10.

and the other is Sport Trail in Waveland/Bay Saint Louis on 90

When I was looking to buy my boat, mine came with the Magic Tilt I have.

I was however looking at different boat that didn't have a trailer already, and Champion said they could build me a trailer for what the dealer was going to sell me a galvanized one for that boat, but didn't buy that boat.(it had a Mercury )


edit...after running the boat today...it's not magic trail...it's Magic Tilt

they also make aluminum trailers now.

Galvashield use tube...not Channel...thats why water stays trapped and rusts from the inside out

Sport Trail for a 23-24 is $5,000 out the door, they no longer sell direct.
Owens and Son may sell direct not sure but both high quality trailers and ride top shelf boats.

I owned 3 trailers over the years made by Sureride out of Mississippi. One on a Sprint bass boat in a package deal. The other two were ones I bought over the years for Aluminum Boats. Been happy with the trailers.
They make a galvanized frame trailer that is solid.

Only bad experience I know about

The entry level trailer they built and Fred Parnell sold to put on the Louisiana Traveler boat had a weak axle. It could have been a dealer issue and not a mfg issue.

My nephew went back Sureride in Columbus, MS; 6 months after he bought the trailer. They put on a bigger axle with hardware and rerigged the boat on the trailer no cost to him. 23 yrs later besides changing springs and wood bunks once no complaints.

I like that they do not use plastic for tire mud covers like ez loader, magic tilt, and some other mass produced brands.
The frame is also heavier than the mass produced brands.

I meant square tubing rust from the inside.

my Magic Tilt has Galvanized fenders...

Upon finding their website today they make a whole slew of different models...some with lesser features...you can still get the galvanized fenders if you pick the right model, and I'm sure the price would reflect it.

like stated...my trailer is 18-19yrs. old and has no rust but the springs and cable...very pleased
