Started the day yeasterday with a bad case of heartburn. It's not letting off. Bad thing is that I was told to call in if I have this problem. I'm not looking to go to New Orleans today. Have to do that Friday.

Fish, with your medical problems you need to call about that heartburn now. There a lot of warnings and precautions we don't take the time to tell patients, because they are fairly rare or not that serious. if the doctor took the time to tell you you need to follow through. Good luck.
Op- did your doe stumble when yo when you first hit her or did she just run?

They will go to water when injured and lay in it. I have found a few deer in water.
The buck we found yesterday was in the only puddle of water around...

No she didn't stumble at all. I was trying to get stood up and she spooked so I just drew back sitting down. She had spun and was quartering to me alert. 30 yards and shot with my 35 yrd pin. Looked like my arrow went straight through her backstrap with half the arrow sticking out the other side. Should have been aiming a lot lower and waited for her to calm a little

maybe the worst precentage shot you can make when bow hunting.
bowhunters have been there, or will have this happen to them at some point in there hunting life. It sucks and stings the ego a good bit.

God Luck! let us kow if find her. sick feeling indeed but happens to just about all of us at some point if bow hunt long enough. I have learned a lot from others and from my own experiences.

What does that mean? Is it the way the doe is positioning herself towards you?
Posted on 10/8/12 at 10:21 am to Meauxjeaux
Yes. At a 45 degree angle turned towards or away from you.

Good luck brother.
OP- Not good if she did not even stumble. That means all you got was as predicited backstrap. She will die but it will be days possibly.
My buddy shot a 3.5 yr old cow horn spike the other day that needed to be culled. It was a steep angle shot and he hit higher and farther back than he was aiming. Fortunately he was aiming too low an forward. he double lunged it but it ran of through a thicket and across property lines. He was discovered 45 min later about 220 yrd from the initial shot. Sadly the Buzzards had already ripped him open and eaten the guts, the right flank, and started on right shoulder. I hope you find yours in time.

With no real good idea where she went after I lost sight I started by making a big circle checking out known deer trails and washouts where she might have to jump and thick shite. Found a good spot of blood and trailed it about 100 yards down one ridge and up another. Top of the next ridge haven't found a drop since.
Good luck in NO.
