Anyone else ever panic buy seed thinking you aren't buying enough, only to end up purchasing double or triple of what you actually need? I planted everything I normally do, plus some new plots, and somehow have 500lbs of seed left over.

Also, I do this every single year.

Yeah,

I just picked up 2900 lbs of wheat seed. Pretty sure i over did it. We have plenty of turn rows around the field edges so even if it isnt needed it wont go to waste.

We plant the same amount every years, so we buy the same amount. We may have an extra bag or two. So a field or two will get a little heavier dose.

I'm a cheap minimalist so I usually don't buy enough.

I figure a sack per plot (1/4 - 3/4 acre plots) and buy 1 extra sack of mix and 1 extra sack of wheat to overseed around mid December.

I’m with you, normally buy too much. Seems like I’m always short on fertilizer though.

I’m bad about overseeding the recommended rate.

I bought extra to account for birds and other waste. My issue is I’m anxious as hell about the timing of it. Like it’s a task that needs to be completed and I hate having stuff like that lingering but also don’t wanna waste seed and have it washed away by 2+ inches of rain or no rain and it’s wasted that way.

It’s a crapshoot. I’m about to climb on a Ford 3000 and begin my crapshoot. We always put out more than the recommended seed rate because we quit plowing plots several years ago. Good luck to all, hopefully no one rolls snake eyes this year!
