Your ole man would really shoot someone for fishing where he shouldn’t be? Jeez.

I was clearly kidding. Hence the “lol.” But he’d probably run you out of there.

OP calling people broke dicks and hunts/fishes on daddy's land. Gotta love this place.

It’s a bad thing to have a family tradition of building and maintaining the estate rather than leaching off of others?

Who knew?

As long as you laugh about shooting someone, I guess it’s ok.

I finally got charged and some time. Sue me.

But seriously folks, how we feel or the general public feels likely doesn’t matter. As was stated in the OP, the bill is dead and will likely remain dead.

Let me tell you a story about a very similar situation that happened in my area.....

Years ago, the hills in my area were largely owned by the paper companies and had little roads crisscrossing all over them. Everyone used to hop in a truck and go for a ride out in the hills to drink beer in the summer, while in the winter it was hunted by every Tom, Dick, and Harry who could pack a gun.

Over time, though, the paper companies sold out to private landowners who didn’t want half the parish on the roads or hunting the deer. Gates went up on the roads, fences went up in the woods, dog hunters’ dogs started “going missing” if they went across someone’s land too much. You get the picture.

And within a generation no one went in the hills anymore unless they had land out there. And honestly the hills were better for it. There was less litter, the deer hunting was MUCH better, and the land was better cared for.

I foresee a similar thing happening in your marsh, for better or worse. The days of anyone getting in a boat and going wherever they please are likely numbered.

You ever trespass on anyone’s property in Venice?

Just hunt. I fish on public water.

Just because a bayou or river is natural and accessible doesn’t mean it’s navigable (public).

Well that’s fricked up. I say let it all erode. No tax dollars for marsh restoration or diversions. Let the private folk save the marsh.

Two different issues. La. is where I have lived my entire life. I was so proud to be from here and I still am. Because of some of the people. But the gov't... I must admit, our state gov't sucks arse!

This state should be the best in the country and instead it is bottom of the barrel.

Save the marsh to some extent and fix the stupid laws about what is and isn't accessible.

ut nothing baffles me more than conservative, small government supporters (and i realize I’m stereotyping here, but I know several personally) openly adocating taking private property.

Some of us understand there can be a greater good to it. TVA took the shite out of land in Tennessee and still does, it's a necessary evil. Now we don't have catastrophe level flooding problems, the rain this year would of obliterated the valley, instead we just had manageable flooding. TVA level of control of the rivers/creeks they managed is much preferable to me than what you have down there.

No sure haven't. I'm a law abiding citizen unlike your old man that would shoot people if they were trespassing on your precious land. I heard its some prime land tho. How many deer have yall killed out their the past 5 years? Venice has hundreds of thousands of acres of public land so not sure why anyone would trespass down there.

How did you get that out of what I said? I honestly would like to know because one of us doesn't know the English language very well and I want to make sure it isn't me. Thanks in advance.

You obviously were taking a shot at him for hunting on family land, as if it was a negative to do that instead of whatever you think is better.

I’ve heard people do that in real life, as well. It reeks of jealousy and insecurity.
