I think too many people need to get away from the fry or ground mentality. Try aging your meat hanging (with skin/fur still on) for at least a few days
You realize not everyone has access to a walk in cooler to be able to do this right?

As to deer meat, do y’all not make sauce piquant, spaghetti, or rice and gravy with cubed meat?
It seems many of y’all make ground meat. No one makes gravy steaks?
But no matter how much I tried to convince myself, a roast from a cow cooked down in a gravy is better than a deer

i used a dorm fridge i got off of craigslist in a 1 bedroom apartment to age deer meat. I made some hangers in it and could fit a whole hindquarter and some backstraps.

I don't have access to a walk in cooler anymore, but I converted an old deep freezer with a cheap external thermostat like some people use for home brewing and just dial it to 40 degrees or so. The only issue is you have to quarter and then make some racks so you can hang the quarters.

eh. there are more reasons than just taste. beefalo tried to get pushed but the large calve size made it hard to breed them without killing cows. Deer are hard to farm because they are prone to stress related injuries and shite like that. cows are easy af comparatively

lobster. You can not eat it without dipping it in something like melted butter. Has no flavor and chewy
Little trivial but during colonial times, lobster was set aside for prisoners. They were super plentiful and the kicker was at points in time, prisoners complained of being forced to eat them. Lobster is also called "cockroaches of the sea" with good reason. The lobsters we eat today are caught for their size as too large of a lobster the meat is far tougher and less tasty. It's why we don't see 40 pound lobsters for sale.

I really can't think of too much that I hunt or fish and won't eat.
Never caught a grinnel, don't have nutria up here and don't hunt squirrels.
I guess it would have to be squirrel. Don't hunt them because there isn't enough to eat on one.

have you ever eaten meat from a scrub cow? beef tastes like it does because the animals are pretty much obese. eating cows is like eating fat chicks.

Squirrel-
Skin and gut, soak in Dales with some sugar stirred in, . Roast on a spit or stick over open flame (campfire) until well done and crispy on the outside, there’s plenty of delicious meat on a squirrel.
Save the leftover skeleton and simmer that down for a while and add some butter and flour for squirrel head gravy in which to dip biscuits.

I'll only eat shrimp I'm hungry and it's the only thing available. Just not my thing. However I can eat crawfish until my fingers give out.

Boiled crawfish >>> boiled shrimp
Any other preparation shrimp >>> crawfish

We'll have to disagree on that. I love boiled shrimp.

I don't know for sure, but knowing my uncle, it probably was 100% deer meat.

I would have to say wild hog. I got a hold of some bad meat a few years ago and it ruined it for me. I've just recently gotten to where I could somewhat eat it again.
