In case you missed it, last week I needed help on staining the inside of a 1.75L bottle to give the appearance of it being filled with bourbon.

I'm pretty happy with the results.

Reading the thread title, I was expecting this to look trashy as shite.

But that looks great, nice work

Let me go buy another bottle and I'll finish it off in a couple days. Sleep off the hangover for a day or 2 and I'll start making it.

Did you happen to document how you made it? With pictures? Would love to make one for myself.

Looks great. Go over to the really big bourbon thread on the food board and post this.

That's really nice. Impressed that you were able to do that good a job when it sounds like you were kind of tinkering around. Looks like something that was done by an old pro.

It's a trade secret now.

I found a translucent oil based dye at Hobby Lobby. I bought orange and brown and mixed it like 3 parts orange to one part brown and mixed it with clear high gloss polyurethane and poured it into the bottle and swirled it around then let it drain upside-down about 20 fricking times. Took forever to get a thick enough coat to look good.

No, but I'd be happy to sell you one.

Everytime after I'd let it drip upside-down, I'd stick my pinky finger covered with a rag inside and wipe away the stain by just rotating the bottle.

Is this Pinterest that I somehow stumbled into?

No seriously it looks good. I'm curious to know how you made it.

My absolute favorite bourbon. Always have a bottle open at the house. Never once thought of making a lamp out of them
