I have the moleskin liner for my jacket, it is awesome, when i purchased it, it was considered the lightweight liner.

Sierra Trading Post gets Filson stuff from time to time.

Hilton's Tent City is a website I found with some of these jackets on sale. Use code "TRAILBREAK" for an additional 15% off and it gets the price down around $200.

I still did better by about $40 finding mine on ebay with tags. It just happened to be the exact size I determined I needed.

The fricking hood sells separately and hits you for another $70 bucks. Not sure I need it, but it makes the jacket look better in my opinion.

I have a number of Filson items also. The briefcase I have takes a beating and never had a problem with it.

Also, the moleskin vest/liner is a good buy at like $150. It’s lightweight, but serves its purpose. And it’s a little different than what everybody else is wearing.

I don’t wear my jacket much. I typically wear a Barbour instead.

My one gripe with Filson is they have so much shite for the PNW lumberjacks, which is understandable, but they’ll do like a feature on a farmer or rancher on their Instagram or Facebook, but never come out with much stuff that’s practical for farmers and ranchers.

I’ll actually sell the Filson jacket. I’ve worn it like 7 or 8 times in 4 years. If anybody wants it, shoot an email to my username @gmail.com. I’ll have to look at it tonight and see the exact style it is, but I know it’s an XL and kind of mid weight.

10-4. I have a LL Bean sweater or wear a fleece pullover under mine. Tried a M-65 army jacket liner but it restricted my movement too much.

Is this a preserve, private land or, or can I be so lucky, public? I have family in Witchita Falls and a griffon that I want to put to work next year.

I don’t have any problems with the quality. They claim “Made in the USA”, but that’s not the case.

I can't speak for the Filson jacket, but I can for the Simms Wading Boots. I have a pair and love them.

Private.

My boss, well technically his mother, owns a 3600 acre ranch out there.

They've always quail hunted it since my boss was a kid, but have been managing it for quail the last decade or so and it's paying off.

My dad was a big horse back quail hunter in CENLA in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's before he passed. I only got to hunt with him late 80's and 90's when it sucked around CENLA as a kid, but got to go out to TX with him a few times on some good hunts. Then I randomly start working for my boss about 10 years ago... We got to talking and quail hunting is one of the reasons my boss and I hit it off so well. That and I have a bass boat and he likes to fish a lot. I take him fishing, he takes me quail hunting.

It's a high dollar operation I've slinked my way into. Kind of like the Filson tag says, "Might as well have the best".

That’s too bad but worth a shot.

Bird hunting skipped 2 generations in my family. My great grandfather was a bird hunter with springers. I found a love while working in Iowa. It’s too bad that the populations have decreased so much. Seemed like a great time. Plan on heading to Colorado to bird hunt next year. Witchita Falls would be a stop over.

I have actually used my Mackinaw Cruiser cruising timber a couple of times just because, and other than briar thorns stuck in it, there isn't any damage at all. It has held up very well.

I have heard that they are big with hipsters now, so maybe quality declined recently

Of all the places to go, Colorado is not typically known as a destination bird place...

We also have friends there so we will be site seeing and enjoying cheap accomdations . I’m sure if the bird hunting is as bad as you say, we might have to skip over to Kansas.

I bet it’s not going to be too bad. I mean 25% of Colorado may as well be Kansas or Nebraska.

I worked a job in Perryton, TX way up in the panhandle near the slender handle of Oklahoma. Hop like 2 Oklahoma counties and you were in SE Colorado. Flat land wheat farms with pheasant everywhere. Lots of canadas and Sandhill cranes too.
