My boss, well technically his mother, owns a 3600 acre ranch out there.

This is a random question, but does your boss live in Dallas?

I worked a job in Perryton, TX way up in the panhandle near the slender handle of Oklahoma. Hop like 2 Oklahoma counties and you were in SE Colorado. Flat land wheat farms with pheasant everywhere. Lots of canadas and Sandhill cranes too.

Yeah, my grandfather was a custom harvester and cut some pretty big wheat jobs in Colorado. I spent a few childhood summers out there.

Small world.

Do you go on the annual dove hunt out there? It’s gotten pretty big. I think there were about 30-40 guns this year.

I have not been. My work schedule is pretty hectic. I’m not 100% sure we are talking about the same guy, but my gf’s grandmother has a house in Wichita Falls and owns a Ranch in Holiday and she has an uncle who lives in Shreveport.

I believe his name starts with ‘W’. He was out there when I went. He talked shite to me the whole time lmao. He was hilarious.

You’re on the money so far.

You’re gf has a very distinctive last name. You tell me what letter it starts with and that’s official.

From your description though we’re talking about the same place.

Last year I went out there and was a day late because of an obligation. I get to the camp and they’re somewhere out on the property hunting. I wasn’t there 2 minutes and I can hear my boss 2 ridges over yelling “Come on RZ!!!” Giving shite to your gf’s brother.

I’m like, oh there over there.

Hahaha sounds like him. I had never met him before and he started busting my balls right when I met him. Thought he was awesome

I’ve been working for him about 11 years.

I like you gf’s dad and brother. I always try to cook when I go and they appreciate that. RZ has a German shorthair they have hunting now. When it was young all the older guys were mid day napping, and RZ and his now wife come and get me and say, “There’s a road covey right up the road” So we drop their dog Remy and basically walk her into them. Knock a couple out then I take them and circle around to another area and plant a dead bird. Walk her up on that with a check cord and she points. Been a heck of a dog ever since. Good stuff.
