I put out some strawberry rice bran yesterday for the first time. About an hour later I had 7 does come out and you would have thought the pile was a pile of rattle snakes. They only settled down about dark. They walked around it and went back into the woods for a bit and then one would run out and stand 10 yards from it looking at it nose in the air then quick darts of the head. they finally literally surrounded it just inside the wood line and watched it for at least 20 minutes. They never tried to eat it and the closest they got to it was about 5 yards. It was the strangest and most entertaining thing I have seen in a long time. I just wish my spinner on my feeder would have went off when they had it surrounded and were starring at it. That would have been funny to have on video.

They always seem to be scared of anything new, but curious at the same time. Almost like goats.

Was it the first time you had put it out? If so not that surprising.

First time I threw out black eyed peas they were shitting on themselves as soon as they sniffed the pile. Every picture I had was a deer coming in to chow then it was gone. Went on for a solid week or so then they were on it like stink on shite. Then that $20 a sack started getting expensive

Yeah, I guess I never expected that type of reaction. It was comical.

Where I hunt if you put out a feeder they only come out at night. Pour corn on the ground and you see deer during the day. I'm sitting in a brush pile looking towards a crossing as we speak. No corn today .

I threw out a bucket of white oaks on a pipeline and the deer looked up constantly looking for the tree I think.

I’m not a hunter but where I live, deer are not hunted, and are always in my back yard.

The only thing I know about them after watching them for a few months is that they are a bit weird!

Is there a tree nearby big enough to hold a stand?

If someone dumped a pile of some strange stuff in your living room without you knowing you’d be leary too baw

Stand? I could shoot from my lower deck at a distance of 10 yards. Serious.

I go out there and call out “hey babies!” They come running and wait for the corn I toss out.

They need to be hunted honestly. Not enough food for all of them.

They are scared of the corn in my backyard. They were mowing down a bag a week and now they have abandoned it. My feeder goes off and the corn just sitting there rotting. Must be the acorns holding them?
