Etorque hemis in Rams

I am looking at buying a Ram 1500 and it seems like any of the 2023 and 2024 models I'm finding are for the ETorque option only. I am pretty suspicious of these because apparently the warranty on them expires after 80k or so miles, and there isn't a history on them as they have only been around for 5 or so years. Also they will be discontinued along with the 5.7 hemi next year apparently, which makes me think getting a repair or replacement done in 5-10 years will be awful.
Was wondering if anyone had any experiences or thoughts on this, good or bad.

I can’t offer any opinion service wise but i have 2 of them and they drive well and the gas mileage is great. I think im averaging around 22 blended highway and city. Pulls my boat with ease also. Best riding truck I’ve owned.

Just bought one after having the regular Hemi in the previous truck. Only gripe so far is stop/start. I might buy the disabler.

I had one for 3 years, about 70k miles. It was a great truck. Absolutely no issues with it. I drive 30 miles each way for work, so a 60 mile commute. When I first got the truck it was averaging 13 mpg. I wasn’t happy. People that had Hemi’s before, told me it will get better the more you drive it. I didn’t believe them. Eventually it did get better though, when I got rid of it the fuel mileage was around 17 mpg. The best I ever saw was 20mpg on the highway on a trip to San Antonio. The Ram stop/start is the best system out of any trucks. The ETorque is used to start the truck instead of the starter, as soon as you let off the brake the ETorque system is moving the truck and starting the motor. On my truck it was seamless. I never use to turn it off or anything. It didn’t bother me at all. I will say though, I feel like the ETorque generator was parasitic to the truck. It has a generator instead of an alternator to charge the batteries. Most of the time when going downhill the truck would actually slow down because it was trying to charge the battery. I’ve never had a truck that would go from 65 mph at the top of the bridge and drop to 55 mph by the time I get to the bottom. I’d love to know how the poster above me is averaging 22 mpg. Mine was a 4wd so it’s rated to get less mileage than a 2wd truck, but I was never happy with the fuel mileage. That would be my only complaint with the truck. My GM trucks that I had before got 21-22 mph on my commute and the Ram never got better than 17 mpg.
Also wanted to add, Mark Dodge in Lake Charles has some good prices on them. That’s where mine came from. We did everything online and they delivered the truck to my house in St. Amant. They took my truck that I was trading in and left. It was one of the easiest truck purchases I’ve ever experienced.

I’ve had no issues with the e-torque hemi itself. I have a ‘21 Ram Laramie and I’ve had 2 main issues so far, and I’m at 38,000 miles.
Issue 1 - I was driving down the interstate with my daughter in the truck and it just shut off on me. No traffic luckily and I wasn’t up to speed yet. I was able to coast it to the shoulder. It then began to start and stop on its own about 20 times. I couldn’t start it until n my own at all. They changed out the starter and it was fine.
Issue 2 - leak in the back window caused the RF Hub to go out so the FOBs wouldn’t work. I couldn’t use the truck.
Both of these are known issues. I wouldn’t buy another but that’s probably because my dealership service department near me is total crap. The truck rides great. I’m just hoping for no more major issues. I do have the extended warranty so that helps.

I didn’t do any negotiations on the truck price, they had the best price around at the time and they knew it. I had a voucher for $1k off since I was switching from a GM vehicle to a Ram so I paid $45k for a loaded out Laramie. I bought mine in the beginning of 2021, that price is about $12k higher now a days. I did negotiate the value on my truck I was trading in though.
Ralph sellers in Gonzales has pretty good prices too but their truck selection is not at big as Mark.

Things like this are infuriating, and it isn’t even specific to dodge.
We’ve been producing vehicles for over 100 years and windows for longer than that. It’s time to be able to reliably prevent water from getting indoors on modern vehicles.

Yep buddy had a f250 that was an aquarium anytime it rained. Dealer couldn’t make it leak with a sprinkler for a week straight, traded for a f350.

When I bought mine, it was already about $14k under sticker. I couldn't get them off that, but had to work with them on my trade. They were about $3k low at first.
