Inside the waistband and leaning towards 4-5 oclock which is what I am use to. Wearing a glock currently.

Not opposed to leather, I've tried one in the past (hybrid). It would get warm though and didn't care for sweat. I're worn a Rocket Man kydex holster too and it was fine.

My question is more geared towards one holster starting out at $125 vs a $65 that both look to do the same thing. What's the catch?

That's a good question, because kydex is kydex. It doesn't take a lot of skill or equipment to accurately form it around a dummy gun, and any decent holster maker can do that so that it provides good retention. You want quality hardware for the belt loops, but beyond that it's probably marketing as much as anything.

If you found leather too hot I'd give something like Stealthgear ventcore a try. I think they're about in the middle of your price span. I don't carry IWB often but I like the ventcore when I do.

I've had one Kydex holster and didn't like it. The main problem was not the Kydex but the fact that the design didn't meet my needs. All the holsters I wear are leather. I've not noticed the leather holster getting warm. All my IWB and OWB feature"sweat guard/shield". I don't wear my holsters against bare skin. Yeah, some of the leather holsters I wear cost more, but to me it's worth it for the improved fitting and different types of leather that are available. OTOH, a custom leather holster of a basic design is oftentimes not much more expensive than a similar Kydex holster. I think most Kydex are really overpriced compared to leather holsters. But, I'll also admit that some leather holsters seem very overpriced to me. Like in the rest of life, some brands cost more than do other brands.

When I started carrying concealed, I carried IWB a lot; I didn't even have an OWB holster. Now that I've been CC a long time, I find that at work I mostly carry inside the pocket while it's OWB during leisure or outdoors; I rarely carry IWB, but when I do, I like the "Clip Tuck" from Side Guard. I like the design as the clip is offset from the body of the holster, making the entire package thinner. For me, OWB carry is much more comfortable and flexible. Mainly it just the a while to get used to, and comfortable with, the idea of OWB. Clothing choice is extremely important w/ OWB carry.
"Tuck Clip"

For OWB I like a numbest of holsters, including the Ronin Leather SW Special w/ elephant accents

When hunting I carry a Taurus G2c in an OWB made by Keeton Custom Leather

Yeah, I prefer leather over Kydex.

After looking through another thread on the OB I just ordered this hybrid IWB holster from Black Arch. Will report back once I have it.

Same, even though i carry a plastic one more.

OP, IMO you should go as minimalist as possible since you are used to Mexican carry. There's countless options out there for very simple belt clip IWB plastic holsters and there's no much difference between the cheap ones IMO.

Nice looking holster. I hope you like it. Once you've been carrying a while, do yourself a favor and switch the clips to use it for OWB. I think you'll find you like OWB for a lot of your cc.

Are you talking about in general or for this specific holster? I’ve been carrying IWB for about 20 years. I doubt I would switch for CC but who knows.

Oh and would a different set of clips need to be ordered for that?

I wish I could find a leather holster, any holster for that matter, that could fit my shield/crimson trace combo. Had to have a local gun shop make one with the 2-piece plastic shell riveted together in a toaster oven and press for it.

It’s similar to this but for IWB at 5 o’clock. Fits right above my right arse cheek.

OP, I’m looking at the Safariland Schema. Less than $40 and looks extremely minimalist/not bulky

What I meant was if you try OWB carry using this holster, you might well find you like OWB and choose to use it sometime, using either this holster or a holster designed for OWB. OTOH, you've been carrying a while so you may be content w/ IBW all the time.

Good question. Quick answer, I don't know. I have a kydex holster that was a part of the package deal when I bought my Canik TP9 Elite Subcompact. The holster can be used either OWB or IWB using the same clips.

The catch is that kydex is a bit hard against your body if you wear all day long. If this does not bother you, a good quality kydex holster can be obtained at:

CYA

I have one which serves pretty well.

Bump.

So I got the Black Arch holster in and started wearing it yesterday. Appears to be quality construction. So far very happy with it. It is thin but wide so gonna take little getting use to. The gun snaps in nicely and the holster is very secure once in place.

I went with the basic polymer clips that it came with although they have the option to upgrade to ulticlips. Looks simple enough to change them out if I ever want to order something different. The clips that come with it lock onto my belt pretty good but would not be viable without a belt.

I don't have one of these yet but I've been browsing for a leather holster for a Shield Plus and these guys offer all sorts of options for laser sights.

Thanks. Mine is old AF…just wanted to see a newer version. I did put the quick loops on mine back when though.
