Lets talk negligible numbers for a second then. A loss of 600 members from total is not the total number of loss. You have to take into consideration those five years before the loss started they were gaining more than 100 members per year in the same chapters. So take away 100 positive member drive for 5 years and then subtract the 600 total they are down. That is a more than 1100 member swing in those five years. Maybe I should have explained that better in the original comment. But I also took for granted most folks understood what member drop meant on a grander scale.

Those 5 years of recruitment must have followed the DD years. They should have a membership graph showing annual membership. Take BR for instance. DU used to pack the PMAC when I was in HS in late 80s and duck hunting sucked balls. Then it got to a point they didn't even have a banquet here. Now they have one in a dirt floor barn and a sponsor banquet at hotel. I'm sure Babcock can give out the numbers.

I get that FF may be full of crap. But, can anyone tell me how DU is benefiting LA? They sound way too political to me and beholden to the North. Why should anyone in LA support them.

Honest question.

Laugh all you want. The fact is, those practices on rice fields benefit more than just the landowner.

Also, DU does that with their dollars. NRCS does the same thing with taxpayer dollars.

Do these all impact duck numbers in Louisiana also?

No, but most those also came after the start of DU. Try again.

I’m not laughing at what you’re saying. Those programs probably benefit wildlife as a whole FAR more than the landowner (in my anecdotal S.LA experience).

If people would go look at their report and look at the acreage, all the land spent in US doesn’t equal what the do in Canada on the breeding grounds. If didn’t have breeding grounds, who would people blame for not having ducks then? I think people forget they are a conservation organization.

Ducks Unlimited obtained grant funding from the North American Wetland Conservation Act (NAWCA).

I support DU and their projects. Every time they install a weir it comes with a gate.
