Been okay by me on lake Catherine. Decent hunts had but not seeing tons of numbers. Ponds around have been hit or miss.

Did well this weekend in the chef pass. Finished with 18 teal. Some buddies did well in the pearl river area as well. Everyone else from delacroix, braithewait, point a la hache, and Oak Grove had rough weekends.

Filling bags with teal and saying you had good hunts.......wtf is up with expectations? That’s horrible compared to how I grew up

I’d be happy with bags of teal forever

"Did well" is relative. 5 years ago I would not be saying the same but after the last two years, that is doing pretty well.

Absolute dogshit in Venice. Hunted opener and shot 2 whistling ducks, 2 teal, and a Gray. It’s sad how bad waterfowl hunting in this state has become.

I’ve hunted Venice my whole life and know that area like the back of my hand. The lack of birds down there right now is evident best reports I heard were a few limits of teal with an occasional gray, pintail, and some dosgris mixed in. It doesn’t help that there were 50000000 mud boats trying to launch at Cypress Cove on Saturday morning running all through the marsh jumping up birds every 5 minutes. Back in the glory days down there in the 80’s and 90’s we would could pick and choose which ducks we wanted to shoot and could shoot limits of all big ducks before 6:30. It’s a damn shame what has become of waterfowling and how the future generations will never experience how it used to be. In my opinion, it just ain’t worth hunting down there anymore and I’m going to pick up and move my whole operation to Arkansas where at least at the very minimum I’m coming home with a limit of specs and some snows even if the ducks aren’t there.

2 good hunts South of Lake Mechant. Almost all grays on that lease, might have seen 15 teal all weekend. North lease is almost all teal and few ring necks. Not seeing much else, few spoons, and one little flock of pins. Few scaup on the bays going back to camp. Birds were rafting up offshore on Gulf Sunday. If we don't get these fronts once a week, its going to get tough quick with them doing that shite.

Hunted Venice as well, had 7 birds Saturday all in the first 25 minutes killed one more until 930 when we picked up. Went fishing Sunday as it wasn't worth the duck hunt that's a first for me in 44 years.

To the person that said we needed to scout Venice, I have been down there every weekend for the last three have scouted every square inch of land from Baptiste to Port Eads if they aren't there you can't kill them. Our bag was NOT from lack of scouting it was from lack of birds.

This is why it doesn’t turn my crank any longer, too much work for too little sugar. Fishing is so much easier and cheaper with a better return on my time and $$.

This is two years in a row now that you say how many birds venice has and a couple weeks later (or in this case 1 week later) youre complaining about no ducks. What everyone needs to realize is that even if ducks continue to come down to se la, especially venice, there is too much pressure on them. I believe that every year ducks are shifting to the central flyway and that in several years (5 or so), we wont have much of anything left in se la. What is left will be pressured out the friday before the season starts by the mudboat brigade. And just so yall know, my group killed limits both days in venice. No big ducks like we used to, all teal and 4 whistling ducks. The difference in the last 5 years in venice is unreal. Gets worse and worse every year.

If it’s as bad as everyone is saying, I hope a lot of these yahoos sell their surface drives and join another hobby. I enjoyed back in the day when we would pull up to an area, park the boat and paddle in anywhere from a 1/4 mile to a mile to certain spots. Then hit mud flats where you had to legit use a push pole.

I deer hunted the Ouachita River bottom in Southern Arkansas from Friday through Monday. The lack of ducks was astounding to me with their season opening this coming Saturday.

This weekend really made me miss the days we used to paddle and push pirogues in and actually saw ducks other than teal.

Pretty good season so far. Killing our specks every hunt with a few snows mixed in. Teal greys and spoons fill our duck limit. Hopefully this lasts.
