Just curious, how is Wham looking?

Honestly not real sure. All I see of Wham is when I go across the highway on the North end. I know for teal season it didn't have much water but it should have gotten plenty of help on that end the last few weeks. I'm sure it's got ducks and will sound like Normandy beach on Saturday..

Not really a hijack, but has anyone heard that first "big push" fly through yet? I've heard a dark goose or two, but - unless I missed it - hadn't heard that "big push night", when you're outside, and hear drove after drove of geese come through. Living in Monroe proper, it's pretty hard to miss.

I'm pretty old now - not really "mad at'em" anymore - but when I was, and followed it alot closer, it seemed to happen on the first "decent" front, after 3 full weeks of October had passed. If my memory's correct, it seemed to happen more times in October than November - which is not to say that ultimately, more ducks made it here in late October than all of November and forward - talking strictly the "big push" - the night the "big wads" start coming through.

PS - Above is a little confusing. I'm essentially talking about the night the ducks first arrive in numbers, as evidenced by hearing a bunch of geese, if that makes sense.

I don;t live in Monroe now but from everything I have heard, that push hasn't really happened. There really hasn't been a decent front to push any birds down. The only birds that are around are the birds that pretty much migrate regardless of weather like teal, Greys, Pintails, and the first wave of Specks. I think this front pushing through may move some birds if it is only for a good North wind for them to ride down on.

There's enough ducks around for people to blast opening weekend and then drop off rapidly after that. I don't think there's been any big push so far at least where I'm looking. Maybe this weather event coming will help

My dad and them did well on Saline Lake Saturday which is pretty shocking. 10 were mallards.

In NE AR there are very few ducks. Lots of specks and a few snows around. Nothing like what we are usually seeing at this time.

Speck opener is Wednesday with duck being Saturday. That'll get em moving I hope.

Had a pretty good weekend in dularge. Friday had 18 ducks mostly teal and greys, Saturday 18, 2 male french 6 greys and a mix of redheads canvas back and ring necks, and Sunday we had 16 I think. Mixed bag of greys, redheads, ringnecks and a few summer french. Saturday my son got to kill his first duck and rail.

Our place in Southeast Arkansas is kind of spotty right now as are a couple of buddies places. Old man has a spot around Bonita holding a few birds and I've heard a couple of good reports from around Jones but it seems like with all the water there are some scattered concentrations here and there. This front is liable to shift some birds around for sure even if it's teal and grays.

I agree, the big push hasn't happened yet.

I've sat on my bow stand on the first really "cool" morning in late October, and listened to flight after flight of geese come over. Didn't, or hasn't happened this year to my knowledge.

Heck we haven't even touched the 30's yet. I think low 40's has been our coldest morning in NWLA so far.
