Duck hunting in the afternoons.

Good evening gentlemen. Happy Saturday to you.
I’m a big fan of duck hunting and have always went out early in the morning for my hunts. Any of you guys do much afternoon hunting for ducks? If so, what’s your opinion? I’m intrigued at trying to get a few more hunts if I can and the afternoons work well for me.
Beat Rice.

We don’t hunt afternoons until last week of season. Let birds holding on our lease get a resting place and feed.

Back when Inwas big into duck hunting, I would do morning and evening hunts. Killed as many in the evening as the morning.

Have in the past, and did pretty decent. We don't hunt past 2 where I'm at now.

Yeah. With work it’s tough to make morning hunts except on weekends but I can blitz it to the blind before dark most days of the week.

Field yes, marsh absolutely no. Roosting wood ducks many years ago was da bomb.

If your area is tidal, often afternoon is your only option. Most of our second split hunts on our lease on the coast are afternoon hunts. Sometimes you hit them fast as they follow the water back in, others you wait until the last 30 mins. Full moon you usually see them flying north off the gulf by the moonlight.

If you’re frozen up in the morning, save yourself some trouble from busting ice, and sleep in. Get out there that afternoon when it’s thawing, and it can be fantastic.

Hunting in pm kills a spot...many reasons why...

I don't because most of the time ducks don't fly until after sunset where I hunt and I'm not very lucky when it comes to wildlife infractions. I try to cross my T's and dot my I's.

Can be productive, but doesn't give the ducks a rest and they will leave a spot if pressured.
Works best in coastal areas, large bodies like Catahoula Lake, and in "flyways" where the ducks you'll be hunting aren't necessarily sitting on your field today.
This is totally different than hunting a "roost" IMO. Best to never hunt that roost, or on the last day of the season maybe.
