This is pretty much accepted on this board, right?

I'll chime in. LDWF hates kids. They split up the youths 2 hunts. They screw the ole ball coach by adding a weak to the second split, oh maybe that was me. And so far I am down on numbers. Its probably their fault also.

Have you been hunting this week?

I know you hunted the weekend, I saw your report, but did you hunt yesterday and this morning? Did you see more or less ducks?

I hunted Sat. and saw about 100, Sunday morning I only saw about 20. Granted, my back is to the lake so I know a lot passes behind me that I don't see.

If you are going to lake bouef be ready for a clusterfrick to park. They are not finished working on the launch. If any of you OBer's need a place to park send me an email at cootdroppings @ yahoo with the title freebudlight and I may be able to accomodate you. You can probably launch thursday and leave your trailer in my yard and boat parked in the bayou.

I don't think many boats will be able to fit under the second bridge. I tried the other day and it wasn't even close. I will be launching in Bayou Bouef Friday, but luckily I know a guy lives right across from launch.

Was the same for us over in Lake Arthur. Barely any birds to be had and have had one GWT kill since opening weekend.

I'll be launching that way and staying at my buddies camp. Luckily, his dad lives 2 houses over from Trudys so no care if no parking

It wasn't really LDWF as much as the (4) commissioners who voted against the recommendations and voted in their own interests. That first week was for sure a complete waste and I sure wish we could've had it in January when there will be ducks down.

Also, they don't think how much it effects everything. Local stores don't sell as many shells, duck pickers don't have as many birds to clean, local restaurants and gas stations don't have as much business because people hunt Saturday and don't come back Sunday because it sucked so bad, etc.
North of Gueydan has been horrible.

Gueydan has been a duck wasteland since the turn of the century. You guys are paying for a teal blind and maybe a few geese with prices based on 1976 results.

Yeah sure, those are all grey duck, and a few pintail marshes that want the early season dates. Not the majority.

I think we should cut season short and wait and open it mid December. Plenty time for some cold fronts to hit, birds to get down on coast, drink a few sissy drinks and relax. And more importantly to you guys with mallard marsh, time for those lazy democrat ducks to make their way down.

I'm seeing less birds in the marsh now than I was youth weekend. Water is everywhere so they are scattered. You may have to get out that big blind you built. But there's limits to be had unless you've got a shitty lease.
