If that's the reason you don't watch it, sounds like you may be a miserable person. I'm an agnostic and it doesn't bother me a bit.
Not watching DD because of a 5 second prayer is about like not watching the Washington Wizzards because there is a gay dude on the team.
No, I'm probably one of the happiest guys on this board. I made one comment about not being religious, and the christians can't take it. I made a point of saying how I think he has every right to do it, and that people have the right to watch it if they want. But, the religious can't refrain from pointing out how wrong I am. So, I retaliate, maybe a bit too much, by making fun of them a little. Now I'm the bad guy.
Anyway, I said the religious stuff is ONE of the reasons I don't watch it. It's cumulative. But, there's definitely more religious talk than just the prayer at the end, at least most of the episodes I've seen. I watched it some in the beginning. I even went to see Jase at an expo here in Huntsville. His talk was 15 minutes of vague duck hunting info and 15 minutes about his faith and preaching. Not what I was expecting, even though I went knowing they were all deeply religious.
And again, I'd watch the show today if it were raining outside, no ball games were on, the internet was out, and I didn't have a book to read. I just don't like it much because: 1. It's not very funny anymore. 2. TV is mind-numbing to me. 3. I don't care for the religious stuff.
Not the big deal some of the offended christians are making it out to be. I'd wager a bet that most of the ones blasting me would be far less tolerant of a semi-funny reality show with heavy muslim undertones than I am of Duck Dynasty.

I'd watch a show of those guys duck hunting, getting up at 4, driving to the river, loading the boat, going to the blind, calling and shooting ducks. They are all fantastic hunters and callers. Just not actors, and the inane scripts and their attempts at acting are simply not fun to watch. IDGAF about the religious aspect, but this whole thread is a manufactured controversy claiming these poor Christians are being persecuted for their faith, which is bullshite. It's that Godless libruhl media again.

A true man of science. If it were raining inside, you'd know not to get electrocuted.

Well said. Im far from an agnostic, but this is my problem with non christians.
I watch the show because Jace and Si crack me up. Thats it. I have a lot of respect for Phil and what hes done, but I can hardly take the rest of it.

I appreciate the prayer at the end. It's refreshing to see a Christian man on television, who isn't asking for money with an 800 number on the bottom of the screen.

You mean it's only the prayer that offends libtards?

How has this thread lasted this long? Have you all really argued over a fake FB chain?

that's not why it lasted this long

I hadn't read the whole thread, so this may have already been said, but I've got it from pretty decent authority that the A and E folks have been genuinely shocked at the REASONS behind the success of the show, those being the family values component, coupled with a strong Christian undertone. The A and E folks supposedly really didn't understand that a market existed for that type of programming.
Much of the Christian undertones of the show were/are edited out, but as the show's popularity has increased (and as A and E has realized again the REASONS behind the success), the Christian undertone has been edited less.
If you'll look at the first season, the prayer never ended "in Jesus name". Now, it does (sometimes). Phil always ended the prayer in Jesus's name. It was just edited out. Now, it's not edited out every time.
While the religious component to the show may ultimately be it's undoing, it's for sure one of the reasons for it's meteoric like climb.

The Bible doing as well as it did shocked em also.
I'm an agnostic but I watched some of it simply because it's an interesting subject. I don't get all butthurt by what other people choose to believe so I'm pretty unlikely to actually try to offend you based on it. You want to proselytize to me you're wasting both our time but I appreciate your concern. Won't effect how I see you even though you might not return that favor.
But I can't control you and how you feel. Just me. And I'm pretty damn ok with me.

I'm okay with you too, Faxis!
I was raised Catholic, but have fallen away from religion over the years. I hope there's a God and I try to lead a good life, but not because of the threat of eternal damnation. IMO, a person should be able to believe, or not believe, in whatever God they choose.
I don't say Grace before each meal and I understand that the plotlines are often fabricated, but I think Duck Dynasty is as good or better than 95% of the crap on TV.

What you have is a bunch of people who believe this show is "real". They genuinely believe that Phil religious beliefs are under attack, and that this is not just some pub for the show.
The crazy thing is that the people believing this stunt has not once realized that it all can be edited out. They dont have to ask him to not say "Jesus", they can simply not show it. Crazy, right???? And plus I'm sure they have plenty other footage of someone doing something stupid that they can put in.

I think very few in here think that, but maybe Im underestimating. Most of the thread was taken on a detour by the "majic man" ( or whatever comment) meant to insult believers.
