You're not very good at posting. I never said the reasons I watch the show, or even if I watch it at all. You just invent things to try to make a point that you're wrong about. Try harder.

What? You playing the victim from these hateful, close minded Christians wont let you believe what you want? Yea we can stop.
Can you show me where I did that? I am not in the least bit intimidated or threatened by anything you or anyone else says. What you believe means nothing to me. I'm quite secure. Other than one mean jab about a "magic man" I've done nothing but try to soothe your hurt feelings. I feel like an adult that took a kid's popsicle away. I'm certainly NOT a victim.

You, on the other hand, did.

I thought you were older that that.

Yes, yes it is, and yes it was. The Christian values the show portrays are a huge part of the success of the show

That's simply naive. I'm sure you also think "Swamp Loggers" success is due to all the loggers out there?
This is just one of many shows that exploits the south, and it's people. While you sit there and appreciate it because of it's "christian ideals", for other people it's comedy and they're laughing at them, not with them.
Now while many people watch it for the same reasons as you, many don't. Believe what you want though.....
Brother Don, you're really off base, and just plain incorrect on this one if you think the success of the show has more to do with an exploitation of southern redneck culture as opposed to the shows Christian undertones. One of your own posts even evidences that fact.
You spoke of just "editing out" the in Jesus's name part of their prayers. There's a reason why they are no longer edited out (not all the time at least), and I'm telling you, that reason is because A and E was surprised at the reception received, specifically the reception received on the Christian undertones. You insintuated earlier that I thought the entire success of the show was based on this, when in reality, I only said it was part of the success. But it is a big part.
Believe me, A and E was caught off guard. When the very first episodes were produced, the very mention of Jesus put an uncomfortable vibe in the room. After season one, the people at A and E were not nearly as "on edge" with the mention of His name.
You can choose to believe that, or not. It won't change my day at all. But it is fact.

Im over it. Not like I had a whole lot of respect for you to lose.

Not at all. But not being an arrogant a-hole to begin with would go a long way

Do you want to talk about high fences, corn feeders, or crossbows now?

- not for me, but don't have a problem with them
- not for me but don't have a problem with them

- enough said.
I have to be the most open minded, tolerant Christian you have ever witnessed, huh?

Its funny and nothing else. I do appreciate its Christian ideals, but I could watch church or something else if that was the only reason. We watch it to laugh.

This is the best part. You dont think the Robertson's know exactly what theyre doing? They arent dumb, and I promise you, theyre laughing also... all the way to the bank.

Can we stop this yet? My lack of reverence for a god I don't believe in has upset some of you far too much. My first post was quite respectful. I got a lot of eye rolling, and "oh lawd help him" comments. I replied with what I felt was a harmless enough jab that you guys were tough enough to take, but that's apparently not the case. Let no one challenge your beliefs henceforth. I will feign respect for your chosen one. All I ask in return is that you pay equal homage to my god, Thor.
You are the kind of hypocrite atheist that give most a bad name. You evangelize based on your philosophical beliefs, yet bash others who do the same. Never understood the militant atheist. They are basically the thing they hate.

This is exactly what I was trying to convey. Thanks for the logical post
