I used that plastic decking stuff. Got a bunch on sale at Lowes.

Mine's a rectangle. Laid cross members on ground. Screwed long boards to the crosses with decking screws. The boards are not permanent like concrete so I can pull it up if needed, don't get hot, resist water, and pee and rain sorta drain through the gaps. Easy to clean. Being slightly elevated keeps the dog from digging out. It's now about 9 years old and going strong. No regrets at all on the concept. It's on its second dog now.
No cover, as it's under an oak tree.

Fwiw, dog is inside a lot and has run of house and yard when we are home. No one home- dog is penned. Happy people and happy dog.

Maybe when he gets older he'll have free run when we are gone, but destroyed stuff is not acceptable. With my other dogs, I found if they never developed the habit as youngsters it never became an issue. He's about 16 mo now.

you get the picture, been having this set up for going on 6 years now. She's protected from wind and rain with this, has her igloo in there for protection. i put them stakes down cause i had fricking males literaly push there way through the chain link to get to her before she got spayed. In the top right corner, i screwed the fan up into rafters and blows down on her space.

Does anyone have any simple plans to build a 10'x10' kennel? I would like it to be six ft high and covered.

Same boat as you. When I am home, my hound is out of the kennel anyway.

I built mine with landscape timbers and treated plywood for the floor. Built a standard kit kennel that sits on top of plywood with a roof.

Never said he was fully trained. He knows left or right and the whistle and he does not break. He learned whistle commands before 12 weeks old. Still have a lot of work left but he is coming along nicely. It really isn't that hard.
