Dry Fire Training with a Laser Ammo
Posted by boxcarbarney

Anyone do this?
I've been thinking about getting a laser bullet with the targets that register a hit from the laser. There are just so many options out there that I'm not sure which way to go. Any suggestions?
For those who have no idea what I'm talking about"

I've only recently heard about this. I'm also interested. I'd love to actually hear from someone here who has actually tried this.

Those, especially the 2nd video, look useful enough for initial aiming.
I think the issue that comes up, is when he's doing double-taps and rapid fire. Dryfire doesn't address recoil, muzzle-jump, noise etc.
It does definitely get you ready, and if you get good muscle memory your point-shoot accuracy will improve. You'd still need live practice to get those 2nd and 3rd shots on target in a timely manner.
OBVIOUSLY, you want to be 100% focused and aware of this system... meaning, if that's your self-defense gun, that you clear it of live rounds prior to using the laser system. And that you return everything to ready after using it.
You don't want to shoot up your den by accident, and you certainly don't want to play Lasertag if someone breaks in.
I could see the potential for some bad, dangerous habits to occur, if you are not careful and 100% serious with it. Guy calls it 'a game', but I'd hesitate to say that, or make it one. It isn't darts.

The GlockStore guy drives this point home in his other laser practice videos. I think this one was more of a "Look how laser training can translate to range performance" video.

I've used and had a blast with Laser Shot and i believe that one is endorsed by Max Michel w/Sig. Very expensive but you can run every type of scenario.

Here's a system that looks interesting, and its cheaper in price than the other options I've seen

100% all of this.
I got a ITarget setup last year. My CC is a Glock 36 and just got tired of going to the range and burning through 45 ammo with Covid. It is a nice alternative and I actually wait for the family to leave and set up my target all through my house running shite hit the fan drills. Kinda fun and for sure beats punching holes in black human outlines.
My wife got me a MantisX for Christmas. At first I was skeptical, but I started doing it because I just don't shoot my pistol much at all and know it's a good thing to just handle it more. It's been fun with the app, it tracks your movement as you pull, before and after, and rates it. There are different programs and drills, live and dry fire. Haven't done live fire yet. I have shot at least 2000 dry fire this month, and I can tell you it absolutely has improved my control and comfort. I know it's not live fire at a target, but I am sure it has helped my consistency and confidence. I need to get to work on targets too.

I have a compact Laser Ammo kit, works with an external webcam and my laptop. Now they have much more sophisticated systems that allow felt recoil. I setup and run the MMTS for my Army units, all kinds of simulated ranges and situations.

This one replaces the barrel and guide rod with a CO2 driven mechanism that makes your slide recoil.

I have the Strikeman pro
LINK
It’s a good addition, but not perfect. If you have a doa pistol, you need to rack the slide between shots. It’s still fun though. I have an hk usp 9, da/sa. It works better than my glock, but it’s the crappy trigger pull every time. Still good practice. It’s convenient to be able to practice at home without using up ammo.
