Seems like she gets them pretty regularly too (once every 3-4mo)

Vet keeps giving her antibiotics and they help. But I was wandering if anyone has had any issues like this before? If so, what did you do for treatment

My female gets it pretty often. She takes the antibiotics and they help a lot. There is also a spray, but she doesn't like that one bit.

I learned recently u can buy antibiotics for fish over the counter. Its the same exact stuff vets give u...and its much cheaper. My mastiff has been on 500mg tablets of cephalaxen i bought off of ebay for a week. Found a dosing guide online. Working great.

Just curious, how do you know your dog has a UTI? Just has trouble peeing?

Frequently peeing (more than usual), darker urine and some blood in urine

My dog had one years ago. Her old vet had been recently replaced by some hippie chick who rubbed me the wrong way. When I brought the dog in for the UTI, she recommended a vaginaplasty (sp?), no bullshite. Evidently she thought my pooch had a grenade go off in her deli which made her likely to get more UTIs.

She hasn't had another in years.

Splash this in the dog's water and it will treat UTI. Do it regularly and she won't get them.

Since cranberry and other supplements are outstanding for us, I would guess there are animal versions. Amazon is a great place for product feedback.

They act different. Act like they need to pee more, will finish pissing then squat right back down. I wouldn't say I "study" her piss, just know the dogs mannerisms and know what to look for

If you dog is having urinary issues that frequently then there is likely a reason for it. Does your vet perform a urinalysis every time. Has he ever talked to you about culturing the urine to see what type of bacteria if any is present and what antibiotics it is susceptible to. You may just have inflammation without infection, could be an infection that is resistant to the antibiotics you have tried, you may need a longer course of antibiotics. Also what kind of food are you on? Diet can often play a role in urinary tract disease. It's possible your dog could have crystals in urine or even bladder stones. Consider having an X-ray to rule out stones.

Tell her to wipe "front to back."
