Are you referring to your pin cushion deer?

Not always. But I am always thankful for my hunts / fishing trips and the big guy up there knows it. We try to talk several times a day.

That's just one such story. Should have seen the battles with nutrias that went one when all I had was a benjamin pump.

Yes.

Step dad and I usually say a short prayer before we leave for the stand and at the site if we kill one.

Never really did this for fish, but I guess the pre-meal blessing works for specs and reds...

My prayer usually consists of a "back". If I deem it necessary I may go with an "over" or two as well.

Nice. Usually the same way over birds.

In the stand, you have some time to think before climbing down.

But usually, whether game or not, the thanks are given pre-meal. At the camp, this is all meals

I respect the animals beforehand by making every attempt to make a quick, ethical kill and recovering every animal I shoot. After the shot, I respect it by consuming as much of it's edible flesh as possible including heart and liver. I never kill more than we eat and I don't kill what I don't eat. Except hogs and that's only been recently because there's no way to kill the number needed and eat all of it. I do try to give as much of it away as possible.
