Imo, shtf is not gonna be about mad max and escaping to the woods for survival. It will be about keeping a stress free, easy quality of life in a panicked society.
My advice quite not be to stock up a years supply of food anticipating no food available, but to stock a good supply of supplemental food and supplies so that you can manage sparse shelves, long lines and price gouging well.

Food no...weapons I'm okay on. If things go down I'm hooking up with the backwoods people of st amant. They all got weapons

I have enough ammo to fight a small war. I don't store food but, living in Florida, it is abundant if you know how to get it.
Having been hit by Hurricanes a few times, Fuel is the biggest issue here. I always have the ability to store enough fuel to keep my cars and boat full plus enough to keep my generator running for a week or so(not continuously).

I like the show. Most of them are pure nuts and wouldn't last long if they had to depend on their skills.

I never considered myself a prepper, but I got nominated for the Prepper Woodie so apparently I scare a few people on this board.

I laugh at those guys. Most people have enough knowledge to keep from dying for a week. Those guys would freak out the first day and get all of their shite taken by people like me.
The people who are gonna be solid probably already know who you are. Cool headed, loads of common sense, and the ability to n****r rig damn near anything will get you out of these situations. Also, an extensive understanding of different brands of 1911s will be very helpful. No idea when someone is gonna try and trade you an Ed Brown for a Ruger. Don't want to get duped on panic-pricing
