My first wife was too. She was extremely close to her family and never thought she would leave. She says to this day moving to AK was the best move she ever made.

She moved back to N. La because her dad talked her into it after we divorced, got remarried and says she feels trapped because she wants to move back so badly.

Some can do it, some can't. I never thought she would like being away from family but she really flourished up here. Anchorage isn't for me, but its constantly ranked as one of the best places for 20 and 30 somethings.

We have our own legendary critter which is a large bird with a wingspan similar to a small airplane. Several pilots have claimed to see it, and it fits into the old native myth of the Thunderbird.

I don't know of anyone local who's claimed to see a bigfoot. If he/she existed, I'm positive this area would be prime habitat.

I used to believe that Bigfoots, ghosts, and Aliens were all real but after watching cable TV for 5-7 years and the multiple shows dedicated to finding the truth not one piece of real evidence has appeared. I am now a non believer in all of the above.

PS: I do believe it is possible other beings live in the universe just don't believe they are coming here.

I'm kind of neutral on this. If they are highly advanced enough, it's possible

I don't think we have any bigfoot beasts running around.

Just came across this video last night. OB thoughts?

Hoax video. The size is wrong and the level of noise the guy makes that close is rediculous. The proportions of the ape are clearly human.

I see common patterns that are hard to explain.

Me too.

Pattern #1: Bigfoot photographers/videographers are the worlds worst at capturing images.

Pattern #2: Put a guy in a monkey suit and somebody, somewhere will think he's bigfoot.

I can't explain it.

As for #1: they are naturally ametuer photographers.

And 2#: The proportions are not human. If you watch the vids you will see many of them capture images of an animal that has longer arms and legs. they have worked out the proportions and can rule out fake vids by identifying human proportions.

Oh, in that case, I change my mind. There's a giant ape-man in the woods.

Yet none of the films show anything other than humans or bears.

These may not be Sasquatch but they are not bears.

the TV shows actually make it less believable that there is something walking around with big feet

Watched one of these bigfoot shows out of curiosity the other night and these "experts" believe that Squatch has the ability that many other animals don't possess to sense game cameras and avoid them.

Probably has its origins in the Stellar's Sea Eagle (as the article mentions) which is occasionally seen in Alaska though they are very rare. Not the size of a plane but much larger than a Bald Eagle.

yes...bears grunt. If they do, it usually means you are in trouble. It's usually a mother bear with cubs.

I had exactly that happen in Haines. One of the cubs took off in my direction as I was shooting photos from a decent distance away. It became too close very quickly and the Momma looked at me, grunted, and headed towards me in a hurry. I nearly shat my pants. Fortunately the cub lost interest and headed in a different direction. Lesson learned, give them LOTS of distance and at least stay close to the car.

This photo shows something that has different proportions to a human.

I love this video of the snow walker.
mostly blurry but has some shots that are clear.

43 sec mark

long but has great images in the far distance and they are exploring the camp site of the sasquatch with structures made from snapped trees.

Yep, had that happen on the road system here this summer. A sow and cubs were munching on dandelions in a meadow and my wife thought she would get closer for a better picture. The sow made it clear she wanted some distance.

Bad trip for the wife, she also had a porcupine step on her foot while walking through heavy brush.
