Noticed this hole when putting it back on the truck after getting a flat fixed. It isn't all the way through but you can see a little bit of the radial.

ETA: 17,000 miles on the tire. Purchased in December. If it weren't so new I'd just be replacing it without wondering about it.

How old is that tire?

I see two spots where you see belts. Beginning of dry rot. And maybe it’s the angle, but you would probably see the entire space above Abe Lincoln’s head.

Probably a bad angle, it isn't an old tire. 17k miles on it. If it were old or a lot of miles I'd just be replacing it without wondering.

What kind of tire? There is not a lot of tread left for having 17K miles.

I think it's a Hancock, I'll have to check when I get home. came on the truck purchased new with about 10 miles on it.

If the tire has a mileage warranty this would be a great time to utilize it.

Sadly, it really isn’t based on how old a tire is. Ford put some soft Pirellis on my expedition. Probably a great tire and a smooth ride but not made fire that weight of a vehicle, etc.

I say that you don’t go cheap with what stands between you and the ground-shoes, tires, etc.

Those two pics look nothing alike. That first one is definitely at a bad angle.

I agree. This wasn't a question about a slick tire, though.
