What is up with the water? For weeks it's been dirty. Went to Buras today. Hooked three nice reds, but heavy rain drove us in early. Bud went to Delacroix today, same thing, dirty water.

The water on grand isle was the cleanest I've ever seen it. Could see bottom in 6' easily

Have had a lot of West wind which pushes the river water towards Delacroix and away from Grand Isle

Lake Borgne is finally clean from the Spillway water it's nice, green water and salinity is up from 1 or 2 ppt to about 4-5 ppt on the south and west side near Mr Go.

Thursday fishing was slow, we ran from the Lagoons along Mr Go and then St Malo to catch 5 slot reds between the two of us on live shrimp and Gulp new penny. The bite stopped around noon but it was slow all morning.

West wind this summer has been unusual for sure will be glad when it turns back to normal summer patterns from the east.

Was a beautiful morning no storms hot later but we enjoyed just being out there.

It’s the west winds. Good for grand isle, not great for others.

Amen to that. As they say "a worst day fishing is better than a good day at work".

We’ve had extended periods of west wind the last three summers. Seems old pattern of SE has changed for whatever reason.

Out of curiosity no clean water on the east side of Buras with the West wind?

Yeah. Granted we were in kayaks so we didn't cover much ground, but everywhere we could go it was dirty. Water was very high. And that storm wasn't cool either. The water was starting to move back out when it came, maybe could of picked up some more.

Water in grand isle was beautiful all weekend. Felt like I was in gulf shores.

If fishing the Joshua’s/Empire side paddling across the river at the fort or riverside will normally put you in cleaner water with a West wind.

However in a kayak crossing the river may be no bueno...

We fished Cocodrie this weekend and while the water wasn't great we still managed 73 specks. Crazy enough we had a little storm just skirt past us and when the winds started really blowing hard is when we caught the biggest fish.
