Is there any way to catch one of these? I stumbled across one on my lease and it scared the shite out of me. The thing was huge, had to be 5 or 6 feet long.

Surely you don’t think there is only one on your lease, right? A fish trap with rotting fish will catch one, place it next to a body of water.

Not sure where your lease is, but I can catch one for you. We can work out the hunting privilege details first.

Sneak up on it and grab it. Did it all the time as a kid.

Is their reputation for being short-tempered deserved?

The bad end of a water snake and most nonvenomous snakes is the tail end. The musk they sling out when caught is terrible

They have to act aggressively to mimic a venomous snake so you won’t mess with it They will flatten out their head and rattle sometimes

Yep, have your hand soap ready. Love how those dudes flatten that head out out to resemble cottonmouth.

I caught over a dozen one day... leave a stringer of fish out in a likely spot...... they will come...

I put a dozen of them in different compartments in a friend of mines bass boat......

we aren't friends anymore

You're lucky you're still alive to tell about it.
